The Santiago South Opening Tournament or the Association Cup (Portuguese: ''Torneio de Abertura de Santiago Sul'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Turnéu di Abertura di Santiagu Sul''), is an opening tournament competition (equivalent to a league cup used in other countries) played during the season in the south of Santiago, Cape Verde consisting the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos. The competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul de Futebol, ARFSS). Its current champions is Desportivo da Praia who won their second and recent title in 2016. Up to around 2012, the competition was mostly known as the Praia Cup. Up to around 2010, it was the Praia Municipal Tournament. The first edition took place in 2000 and was the second regional competition after the championships alongside Boa Vista, Fogo and Maio. Santiago South Regional Football Association (Portuguese: ''Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul'', abbreviation: ''ARFSS'', not commonly as ''ARFSZS'') is a football (soccer) association covering the south of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, Santiago, it is an affiliate of the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The Santiago South Super Cup (Portuguese: ''Super Taça de Santiago Sul'') is a regional super cup competition played during the season in the south of Santiago, Cape Verde consisting the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos. The competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul de Futebol, ARFSS). The Santiago South Zone Cup (Portuguese: ''Copa da Ilha de Santiago Sul'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Kopa da dja di Santiagu Sul'') is the oldest regional cup competition in Cape Verde and is played during the season in the south of island of Santiago, Cape Verde consisting the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos. It consists of all the clubs from all the two regional divisions and are divided into about six rounds. The cup competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Santiago Sul, ARFSS). The Santiago South Premier Division is a regional championship played in Santiago Island, Cape Verde and is a part of the Santiago South Zone Football Association. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season while the last two placed clubs relegates in the following season. In 2007 and 2013 when Sporting Praia automatically qualified in the championships as they won their national titles in the previous season, a second place club qualified to the national championships. São Domingos is a ''concelho'' (municipality) of Cape Verde. It is situated in the southeastern part of the island of Santiago. Its seat is the city São Domingos (''Várzea da Igreja''). Its population was 13,699 at the 2010 census, and its area is 147.5 km2. The two major settlements in the concelho are São Domingos and Praia Baixo, São Domingos (population about 3,000) being the largest settlement in the area.
