Santiago Key Ayala
Santiago Key Ayala (Caracas, April 25, 1874 – Caracas, August 21, 1959) was a historian, writer and diplomat, and is considered one of the most important Venezuelan intellectuals from the first half of the 20th century. Biography Santiago Key Ayala was born in Caracas on April 25, 1874. His parents were Fernando Key Rodríguez and Ana Ayala Anzola. He studied philosophy, math, and natural sciences at the Central University of Venezuela. At this time he began his literary career by writing for the journal ''El Cojo Ilustrado''. He then studied engineering and political science, and wrote articles for the magazine Cosmópolis, a publication that helped spread modernismo in Venezuela. Although Key Ayala was at first influenced by the ideas of modernismo, he gradually moved away from the movement, finding his own voice in a prose more in line with his academic and classic spirit. Juan Antonio Pérez Bonalde
Juan Antonio Pérez Bonalde (1846-1892) was a Venezuelan translator and poet. He is best known for his Hispanic romanticism style of work and was seen a precursor of Modernism. He is buried in the National Pantheon of Venezuela. Life Juan Antonio Pérez Bonalde was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1846. His poem ''Vuelta a la Patria'' (Return to the Homeland) is about his return to Venezuela. He translated works of English, German, Italian, Danish, Chinese, Portuguese, French writers into Spanish. The "Songbook" by Heine and the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe are his most famous translations. After he lost a daughter, he wrote a poem ''Flor'' (Flower) in memory of her. Andrés de Jesús María y José Bello López (; November 29, 1781 – October 15, 1865) was a Venezuelan- Chilean humanist, diplomat, poet, legislator, philosopher, educator and philologist, whose political and literary works constitute an important part of Spanish American culture. Bello is featured on the old 2,000 Venezuelan bolívar and the 20,000 Chilean peso notes. In Caracas, where he was born, Andrés Bello was Simón Bolívar's teacher for a short period of time and participated in the process that led to Venezuelan independence. Manuel Díaz Rodríguez (28 February 1871 – 24 August 1927), was a Venezuelan writer, journalist, physician, diplomat and politician. He is considered one of the greatest representatives of the Hispanic ''modernismo'' movement. He was born in Chacao, Miranda state. He served as director of Higher Education and Fine Arts at the Ministry of Education in 1911, Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1913 and 1914, Senator for the Bolívar state in 1915, Minister of Development in 1916, Minister Plenipotentiary of Venezuela in Italy from 1919 until 1923, Head of Government of the states Nueva Esparta (1925) and Sucre (1926).
