Santee (film)
''Santee'' is a 1973 American Color Western film directed by Gary Nelson and starring Glenn Ford. It was one of the first motion pictures to be shot electronically on videotape, using Norelco PCP-70 portable plumbicon NTSC cameras and portable Ampex VR-1200 2" VTRs, before being transferred to film at Consolidated Film Industries in Hollywood. It was the only film to be produced by Edward Platt (of ''Get Smart'' fame). Plot Jody Deakes joins up with his father after many years, just to discover that his dad is part of an outlaw gang on the run from a relentless bounty hunter named Santee. Jody is orphaned soon after Santee catches up to the gang, and follows Santee in hopes of taking vengeance for his father's death. Instead, however, Jody discovers that Santee is a good and loving man, tormented by the death of his young son at the hands of another outlaw gang. Gary Nelson (director)
Gary Nelson (October 6, 1934 – May 25, 2022) was an American television and film director. He directed many television series, including ''Get Smart'', '' Gunsmoke'', ''Have Gun – Will Travel'', ''The Patty Duke Show'', '' Gilligan's Island'' and ''Happy Days''. In addition, Nelson directed five feature films, including Disney's ''Freaky Friday'' (1976), and many television movies, including '' Murder in Coweta County'' starring Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith. In 1978, Nelson was nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series on '' Washington: Behind Closed Doors''. Nelson was born in Los Angeles, California. He was married to actress Judi Meredith, who died on April 30, 2014; the couple had two sons. During semi-retirement, Nelson continued to occasionally guest lecture at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He died in Las Vegas on May 25, 2022, at the age of 87. John Bailey (American Actor)
John Anthony Bailey (June 4, 1947 – November 13, 1994), also known as Jack Baker, was an American actor. Life John Anthony Bailey was born on June 4, 1947 in Ohio, U.S. Bailey lived in San Francisco, California during the early 1970s where he attended Merritt College in Oakland and performed in numerous stage and film productions. His performances included Richard Wesley's ''The Black Terror'', for John Cochran's Black Repertory West, J. E. Franklin's ''Black Girl'' with Adilah Barnes, work with the improvisational theatre group, The Pitschel Players, and appearances with other San Francisco Bay Area theater companies. Bailey also appeared in the Sun Ra film ''Space Is the Place'' (made in 1972 and released in 1974). Career Bailey is best known for the role of C.C. McNamara on the Sid and Marty Krofft children's television program ''Wonderbug'' (1976). John Lewis Hart (December 13, 1917 – September 20, 2009), also credited as John Hilton, was an American film and television actor. In his early career, Hart appeared mostly in westerns. Although Hart played mostly minor roles in some fairly well known films, he was probably best known for having replaced Clayton Moore in the television series ''The Lone Ranger'' for one season (1952–53). Career Hart began his screen career in 1937 with a bit part in ''Daughter of Shanghai''. He continued in a variety of B pictures such as ''Prison Farm'' and ''King of Alcatraz'' before appearing in two of Cecil B.
