Santanu Bhowmik
Santanu Bhowmik (12 January 1989–20 September 2017) was a journalist murdered in the North-eastern state of Tripura in India while covering the ''raasta roko'' (road blockade) by Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT). Santanu worked for Channel Dinraat television station and was covering a clash at Mandai between the indigenous wing of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) and IPFT activists in which Bhowmik was suddenly attacked with sharp weapons. He was later found with multiple stab injuries and died before he could be taken to a hospital. Police arrested four members of the IPFT in connection with the murder. Santanu's father Sadhan Bhowmik has demanded that Central Bureau of Investigation probe the death. Tripura
Tripura (, Bengali: ) is a state in Northeast India. The third-smallest state in the country, it covers ; and the seventh-least populous state with a population of 36.71 lakh ( 3.67 million). It is bordered by Assam and Mizoram to the east and by Bangladesh to the north, south and west. Indigenous People's Front Of Tripura
The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) is a regional political party in Tripura, India. It is a member of the National Democratic Alliance and North-East Democratic Alliance. The party was merged into the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) in 2001, However diverged out in 2009. The party is allied with BJP in the 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election and won 8 seats out of 9 contested seats. The party got 7.5% of the total votes polled. The BJP got 36 seats and with a total of 44 seats the BJP-IPFT coalition have two-thirds majority at the Legislative Assembly. Mandwi
Mandwi is a town in the Sadar sub-division of the state of Tripura in the West Tripura district in India. It is in the Mandwi Rural Development Block Description Mandwi (Mandai) is settled over a hilltop. It was previously known as "Mandai" but its name was corrupted by earlier land recorders. It is linked with Jirania and Borokathal by roads. It is under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. The town has a mini-stadium along the main road to Jirania. Sudip Datta Bhaumik
Sudip Datta Bhaumik (died 21 November 2017) was a journalist killed in the north-eastern state of Tripura in India by a police officer of the Tripura State Rifles during an altercation. Sudip was a reporter for the Bengali language newspaper '' Syandan Patrika'' and the local television channel News Vanguard. The Tripura chief minister, Manik Sarkar, and the union home minister of state, Kiren Rijiju, condemned the killing.
