Santana (; from Portuguese ''Santa Ana'', meaning Saint Anne) is a northern district in the subprefecture of Santana-Tucuruvi of the city of São Paulo, Brazil, and is located between from downtown São Paulo. History The district of peace of "Santana" (Distrito de Paz de Santana) was created in 1898, and its boundaries changed over the years with the creation of new sub-districts in the north of the city through the municipal law of 1986. However, the origins of the region of Santana are very old, with the district's foundation date recognized as July 26, 1782. Santana is a district which, despite formerly being a central core north of São Paulo, was long isolated from the rest of the city due to natural barriers such as the Rio Tietê and Serra da Cantareira. Line 1 (São Paulo Metro)
Line 1 (Blue) ( pt, Linha 1–Azul) is one of the six lines that make up the São Paulo Metro and one of the thirteen lines that make up the Metropolitan Rail Transportation Network. It was the first line built for the São Paulo Metro and also the first metro line built in Brazil. It links Tucuruvi Station to Jabaquara Station. Construction began in the late 1960s and was completed in the early 1970s. History Originally called North-South Line, line 1 began construction on December 14, 1968. Commercial operation began September 14, 1974, with trains running in the first seven kilometers between Jabaquara and Vila Mariana stations. March for Jesus is an annual interdenominational event in which Christians march through towns and cities. History The March for Jesus began as a ''City March'' in London, United Kingdom, in 1987. It emerged from the friendship of three church groups: ''Pioneer'', led by Gerald Coates; ''Ichthus'' led by Roger Forster; and '' Youth with a Mission'' led by Lynn Green. The Itaipava São Paulo Indy 300 presented by Nestlé was an event in the IRL IndyCar Series, contested in the 2010 through 2013 IndyCar Series seasons. The event was originally announced on November 25, 2009, as the first championship event for the series outside North America and Japan, and the first American open-wheel race in the country since the Rio 200 at Jacarepaguá in the 2000 CART season. Cemitério Municipal de Santana (Municipal Cemetery of Santana), popularly known as ''Chora Menino'' (English: cry boy), is a cemetery located in the northeastern zone of São Paulo in the district of Santana, and is one of the oldest cemeteries in Brazil. Campo de Marte Airport is the first airport built in São Paulo, Brazil, opened in 1929. It is named after Champ de Mars, in Paris, which in turn got its name from Campus Martius, in Rome. During a transitional period, the airport is jointly operated by Infraero and XP Inc. History Campo de Marte was the first airport built in São Paulo, officially opened on July 26, 1929.
