Rita Lee Jones (; born 31 December 1947) is a Brazilian rock singer, composer and writer. She is a former member of the Brazilian band Os Mutantes and is a popular figure in Brazilian entertainment, where she is also known for being an animal rights activist and a vegan. She has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Her autobiography ''Rita Lee: Uma Autobiografia'' was the best-selling non-fiction book of 2017 in Brazil. Early life and education Rita Lee was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to an American father, Charles Fenley Jones, a dentist descended from the Confederates, and Romilda Padula, a Brazilian mother of Italian ancestry and a pianist. ''3001'' is the 29th album by Brazilian rock singer Rita Lee. Released in 2000, it featured a song written by Rita Lee in partnership with Tom Zé also named "3001". Background Electronic and psychedelic, the song "3001" that gave the album its title, was the result of a partnership between Rita Lee and Tom Zé. They had met at a MTV Brasil show that brought together some of the Tropicalistas on stage. In the occasion she asked Tom to write lyrics that would be a continuation of "2001", recorded by Os Mutantes in the 1960s. Considered a "musical time machine", ''3001'' was named "Best Rock Album" at the Grammy Latino 2001. Tour The ''3001 Tour'' was full of novelty. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Raimundos
Raimundos is a Brazilian punk/hardcore band formed in 1987 by Digão and Rodolfo Abrantes, in Brasília, Distrito Federal. They had with major influences from 1980s punk bands, especially Ramones, from which their name is a play of. Raimundos went on to achieve major success and become one of the most influential rock bands of Brazil in the 1990s, with multiple gold records and a double platinum achievement on their MTV live album. The band's prominence decreased significantly with the exit of vocalist Abrantes to focus on religious activities. The name of the band alludes and ironically refers to the proper name Raimundo, as it was one of the most common male first names of persons from the Northeast region of Brazil, while also being a local-flavored homage to the Ramones.
