Santa Comba Dão
Santa Comba Dão () is a city and a municipality in the Viseu District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 11,597, in an area of 111.95 km2. The city proper has a population of 3,300. The present mayor is Leonel Gouveia, elected in 2013 by Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is Ascension Day. António de Oliveira Salazar, the leader of Portugal from 1932 to 1968 and founder of the '' Estado Novo'', was born in Vimieiro, Santa Comba Dão on 28 April 1889 to a rural family of modest income. The town's station was formerly a terminus of the Dão line to/from Viseu. This narrow gauge railway opened in 1890 and was closed to passengers in 1988. Santa Comba Dão was granted city status in 1999. In mid-2000s, a serial killer murdered three young women in the municipality. António Luís Costa
António Luís Costa (born 1953) is a Portuguese ex- GNR soldier and serial killer from Santa Comba Dão. He was convicted in 2007 for the murders of three young women between May 2005 and May 2006. He is currently held in the prison of Évora. The case received extensive media attention in Portugal. It was front page in some newspapers. Murders Costa's first victim was Isabel Cristina Isidoro, who went missing on May 24, 2005; her body was recovered from the ocean on May 31, 2005. Mariana Lourenço went missing on October 14, 2005, and her mutilated body was found in June 2006. The third and last victim was Joana Oliveira, who went missing on May 8, 2006; her body was recovered from under a bridge based on directions given by Costa. João Carlos Amaral Marques Coimbra (born 24 May 1986) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Coimbra was born in Santa Comba Dão, Viseu District. A product of S.L. Benfica's youth system, he appeared in 13 Primeira Liga games with the first team over the course of two seasons, after which he was loaned to Madeira's C.D. Nacional also of the top division for the 2007–08 campaign. In July 2008, Coimbra was definitely sold by Benfica, joining C.S. Marítimo. José Maria de Sousa Horta e Costa, CavA, OA, OSE (20 October 1858 – 21 September 1927), also known as José Maria de Sousa Horta e Costa (de) Almeida e Vasconcelos, was a Portuguese soldier, politician, and diplomat. He was colonial Governor of Macau and India. He was the second son of Miguel António de Sousa Horta Almeida e Vasconcelos, 2nd Baron of Santa Comba Dão and his second wife, Maria da Glória da Costa Brandão e Albuquerque, sister of the 1st Viscount of Ervedal da Beira. He was born in Santa Comba Dão and died in Porto, Foz do Douro. Viseu () is a city and municipality in the Centro Region of Portugal and the capital of the district of the same name, with a population of 100,000 inhabitants, and center of the Viseu Dão Lafões intermunipical community, with 267,633 inhabitants.
