Santa Barbara Dodgers
The Santa Barbara Dodgers was the main nickname of minor league baseball teams in the Class A California League based in the Pacific Ocean coastal resort city of Santa Barbara, California. History The Santa Barbara Dodgers were an affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers (in Brooklyn, New York) of the National League and later their successors, the Los Angeles Dodgers (after 1955) from 1941 to 1953 and 1964 to1967. They won the league championships in 1941, 1948 and 1951. The Dodgers entered the California League in 1964 to replace the previous Santa Barbara Rancheros. The Dodgers' home stadium was Laguna Ball Park. The Santa Barbara Dodgers were plagued by low crowd attendances, averaging only 225 spectators per game. At the end of the 1967 season, the Santa Barbara Dodgers franchise was transferred east to Bakersfield, California. The Laguna Park stadium was demolished in 1970, and replaced by a parking lot, and no professional minor league baseball team has been based in Santa Barba ... The California League is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in California. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A West before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. Irving Arnold Noren (November 29, 1924 – November 15, 2019) was an American professional baseball and basketball player. He was an outfielder in the Major Leagues from 1950 through 1960 for the Washington Senators, New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. Von Everett Joshua (born May 1, 1948) is a former professional baseball outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1969–71, 1973–74 and 1979), San Francisco Giants (1975–76), Milwaukee Brewers (1976–77) and San Diego Padres (1980) of Major League Baseball (MLB). Hal Gregg
Harold Dana Gregg (July 11, 1921 – May 13, 1991) was a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1943–47), Pittsburgh Pirates (1948–50) and New York Giants (1952). Gregg batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Anaheim, California. In a nine-season career, Gregg posted a 40–48 record with 401 strikeouts and a 4.54 ERA in 827 innings pitched. In 1947 Gregg became an unlikely World Series figure. He had pitched very well in relief for Brooklyn, especially in the 4th game when Bill Bevens was hurling his 8 innings of no-hit ball only to lose in the 9th. James Edward Gentile (born June 3, 1934), also nicknamed "Diamond Jim", is an American former professional baseball first baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Athletics, Houston Astros, and Cleveland Indians between 1957 and 1966.
