Sant Andreu Jazz Band
Sant Andreu Jazz Band is a youth jazz band from Barcelona, featuring 7- to 20-year-olds. The bandleader is Joan Chamorro. History The band was founded in 2006 at Escola Municipal de Música de Sant Andreu. The band has performed at numerous concerts and festivals in Catalonia, and other regions of Spain as well as in neighbouring countries. They released their first live CD/DVD ''Jazzing: Live at Casa Fuster'' in 2009, featuring alongside established jazz musicians, the precocious 14-year-old, Andrea Motis among other young talents. 2010 was a breakthrough year for the band, with appearances at more than 20 festivals including Valls, Terrassa, Girona, Barcelona, Platja d'Aro, and venues like el Jamboree, Palau de la Música Catalana, JazzSi, Hotel Casa Fuster, featuring international performers like Dick Oatts, Ken PeplowskiBobby Gordon Perico Sambeat, Ignasi TerrazaMatthew Simon and Esteve Pi. Fredrik Norén (21 April 1941 – 13 May 2016) was a Swedish jazz drummer and band leader. Career In the 1960s, he was active in the jazz circle "Gyllene Cirkeln" and performed with Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon. In the 1970s, he worked with Lars Gullin. With his own F.N. Joseph Anthony Magnarelli (born January 19, 1960) is an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhornist. Early life and education Magnarelli was born in Syracuse, New York. He received a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1982 and began playing in New York City in 1986. Career Magnarelli was a member of Lionel Hampton's ensemble (1987–1989) and worked with Brother Jack McDuff from 1989 to 1994. He cofounded the New York Hard Bop Quintet in 1991 and led his own ensembles in the 1990s, often with John Swana and Jerry Weldon. John Allred (born 1962) is an American jazz trombonist. He is the son of another jazz trombonist, Bill Allred. Career After graduating from high school, John Allred moved to southern California and started his professional music career with the Jazz Minors, a six-piece Dixieland group at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. During this time, he became active in the Los Angeles music scene, and in 1987 he accepted an invitation to join Woody Herman and the Young Thundering Herd. He moved to Orlando, Florida, playing both jazz and studio gigs. Scott Hamilton (born September 12, 1954) is an American jazz tenor saxophonist associated with swing and straight-ahead jazz. His eldest son, Shō Īmura, is the vocalist of the Japanese rock band Okamoto's. Career He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Hamilton began to play the tenor saxophone at the age of sixteen. In 1976, he moved to New York City and played with Benny Goodman at the end of the decade. Jesse Davis (born September 11, 1965) is an American jazz saxophonist. He began as a student in Ellis Marsalis's New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
