Sant'Agata, Cremona
The Church of Sant'Agata is one of the oldest churches in the city of Cremona, Italy. It was originally attached to the Augustinian monastic order of Canons Regular of the Lateran. The abbot of the attached monastery was, like the bishop, mitred. History The original church at the site was built in 1077, and first rebuilt in the 12th century. Of this latter Romanesque Architecture, Romanesque church, only the bell-tower remains. The interior of the church was again rebuilt in 1496 under the designs of Bernardino de Lera; while the present Neoclassical architecture, Neoclassical-style facade with simple portico of white columns was built in 1835 under designs of Luigi Voghera. Nearly all the 15th-century fresco decoration was lost. The nave was frescoed with an ''Allegory of Virtue'' in 1872. Bernardino Gatti
Bernardino Gatti (c.1495 – 22 February 1576) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance, active mainly in Parma and Cremona. He is also commonly called il Sojaro. He was born in or near Pavia or Cremona. His early apprenticeship is unclear, though he was influenced by the pre-eminent local painters: Pordenone, alongside whose works are many of Gatti's frescoes, as well as Correggio. Gatti worked for 12 years, 1560–72, in the fresco decoration of the cupola of the duomo of Parma, where he was assisted by Bartholomaeus Spranger. His major works are the large fresco in the refectory of San Pietro in Cremona from 1552, frescoes in the dome of the Santa Maria della Steccata (1560–66) in Parma, and his ''Assunta'' in the Duomo of Cremona. Boccaccio Boccaccino (c. 1467 – c. 1525) was a painter of the early Italian Renaissance, belonging to the Emilian school. Giulio Campi
Giulio Campi (1502 – 5 March 1572) was an Italian painter and architect. His brothers Vincenzo Campi and Antonio Campi were also renowned painters. Biography The eldest of a family prominent painters, Campi was born at Cremona. His father Galeazzo (1475–1536) taught him the first lessons in art. In 1522, in Mantua, he studied painting, architecture, and modelling under Giulio Romano. He visited Rome, became an ardent student of the antique, and like Bernardino — distantly related to him — he combined a Lombard and Roman traditions. Gian Cristoforo Romano
Giovanni Cristoforo (or Giancristoforo) Romano (1456–1512) was an Italian Renaissance sculptor and medallist. Born in Rome to Isaia da Pisa, he was probably a pupil of Andrea Bregno. His first known works are in the Ducal Palace of Urbino, dating from before 1482. Later he worked as medallist for the courts of Ferrara and Mantua, where he was a favourite of duchess Isabella d'Este.
