Sanremo Music Festival 1967
The Sanremo Music Festival 1967 was the 17th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Sanremo Casino in Sanremo, province of Imperia between 26 and 28 January 1967. The show was presented by Mike Bongiorno and Renata Mauro . According to the rules of this edition every song was performed in a double performance by a couple of singers or groups. The winners of the Festival were Iva Zanicchi and Claudio Villa with the song "Non pensare a me". But after the festival, actually the biggest success and the most popular song was "Cuore matto" (crazy heart) of Little Tony, that sold 6 million copies and was the no.1 hit for nine consecutive weeks in the Italian hit parade. Mike Bongiorno
Michael Nicholas Salvatore Bongiorno (; May 26, 1924 – September 8, 2009) was an Italian-American television host. After a few experiences in the US, he started working on RAI in the 1950s and was considered to be the most popular host in Italy. He was also known by the nickname ''il Re del Quiz'' ("The Quiz King"), and the peculiarity of starting all his shows with his trademark greeting: ''Allegria!'' ("Cheers!", "Joy!"). Early years Bongiorno was born in New York City to parents of Italian descent. He moved to Turin (his mother's native city), when he was young. His father was a Sicilian-American lawyer of partial Arbëreshë origin. During World War II, he abandoned his studies and joined a group of Italian partisans. Nicola Salerno
Nicola Salerno, also known as Nisa (11 March 1910 – 22 May 1969) was an Italian lyricist. He formed a famous songwriting duo with Renato Carosone. Career Nicola Salerno was born in Naples, Italy. His first hit was "Eulalia Torricelli" of 1947, about the unhappy love story between a wealthy girl from Forlì and a guy named Giosuè. Nisa put the whole team of songwriters in the lyrics, as heirs to the beautiful Eulalia: "Un castello lo dà a Nisa, un castello lo dà a Redi, un castello, ma il più bello, al maestro Olivieri lo dà" ("she gives one castle to Nisa, one castle to Redi, but the most beautiful ones goes to Maestro Olivieri"). Ricky Gianco (born Riccardo Sanna, Lodi 1943), formerly known as Ricky Sanna, is an Italian singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer, considered one of the founders of Italian rock music. He reached the apex of his popularity as a singer in the 1960s, when he was one of the so-called "urlatori" (literally: "screamers"), a group of early rock singers which also included Adriano Celentano, Little Tony, Tony Dallara, and others. Pierre Antoine Muraccioli (born 4 June 1944), known professionally as Antoine, is a French pop singer, and also a sailor, adventurer, writer, photographer, and filmmaker. Memo Remigi (born Emidio Remigi, 27 May 1938) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer and television personality. Born in Erba, Como, during his studies Remigi played piano in various groups. He debuted as a singer in 1963 winning the Liegi Song Festival with the song "Oui, je sais". The Rokes were a pop rock band formed in 1963 in Italy by English expatriates. Lucio Dalla
Lucio Dalla (; 4 March 1943 – 1 March 2012) was an Italian singer-songwriter, musician and actor. He also played clarinet and keyboards. Dalla was the composer of " Caruso" (1986), a song dedicated to Italian opera tenor Enrico Caruso, and "L'anno che verrà" (1979). Beginnings Dalla was born in Bologna, Italy. He began to play the clarinet at an early age, in a jazz band in Bologna, and became a member of a local jazz band called Rheno Dixieland Band, together with future film director Pupi Avati. Mario Panzeri
Mario Panzeri (11 October 1911 – 19 May 1991) was an Italian lyricist and composer. He is well known for his composed songs that include "Maramao perché sei morto?" "Pippo non lo sa", "Lettera a Pinocchio", and "Grazie dei fior", which won the first edition of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1951. Daniele Pace
Daniele Pace (20 April 1935 – 24 October 1985) was an Italian composer, lyricist and singer-songwriter. Life and career Born in Milan, Pace started his career as lead vocalist of the group I Marcellini. After a brief solo career as a singer-songwriter, in the early 1960s he was enrolled by CGD as a composer and lyricist, often teaming with Mario Panzeri. The duo had several hits, and some of their songs were covered in other languages and became international successes. In 1971 he co-founded the comedy music group Squallor, and in 1979 he recorded a solo album, ''Vitamina C''. Les Compagnons De La Chanson
Les Compagnons de la chanson were a French harmony vocal group from Lyon, France, founded in 1946. Their best known song was "Les trois cloches" recorded with Edith Piaf in 1946. They were a nine-member group, and they were popular in France with some success internationally, and they continued to perform until 1985. Career They were originally part of a choir formed in 1941 as part of the Compagnons de France movement of Vichy France, then renamed the Compagnons de la musique. The group met Edith Piaf first in 1944 in a benefit concert for railway workers in Paris and Piaf decided to help promote the group. She launch the group in Paris in May 1946 at a concert in Club des Cinq. Jean Cocteau, who was in attendance at their show, wrote of their performance: "The miracle has happened that these two solitudes joined together to create a sound artefact which so expresses France that the tears start to flow."
