Sanjiv Buttoo is currently Deputy Managing Editor for BBC Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. Previously he was Executive Editor BBC Radio Leeds (2015-2023) Managing Editor BBC Radio York (2014–2015), Assistant Editor BBC Radio Lancashire (2012–2014), Senior North of England Correspondent BBC Asian Network. He's worked with BBC World Service, a reporter/producer with the BBC's Investigation Unit and head of Community Programmes for both BBC Yorkshire and BBC North West. He has worked extensively for BBC News, spent part of his career based in South Asia and the Middle East and has reported for both ''BBC Look North'' and ''BBC North West Tonight''. BBC Radio Leeds
BBC Radio Leeds is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of West Yorkshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios at St Peter's Square in Leeds. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 154,000 listeners and a 3.2% share as of September 2022. History The station began broadcasting at the Merrion Centre at 5.30 pm on 24 June 1968, becoming the seventh station to go on air. Initially a two-year experiment and co-funded by Leeds City Council, the station was only available in Leeds on a low powered 50 watt VHF transmitter in Meanwood Park, on 94.6 MHz. Listening figures were very low as at that time, the majority of listeners still listened to radio via AM. BBC Radio York
BBC Radio York is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of North Yorkshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios in the Bootham area of York. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 59,000 listeners and a 3.7% share as of September 2022. Early history In May 1982, just over a year before the station was due to launch, a temporary service was provided to cover Pope John Paul II's visit to York. The service, which ran for just over 24 hours, operated on what was to be the station's primary MW frequency and was also broadcast on the other local stations in the Yorkshire region. BBC Radio Lancashire is the BBC's local radio station serving the county of Lancashire. It broadcasts on FM, AM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios on Darwen Street in Blackburn. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 139,000 listeners and a 4.4% share as of September 2022. Transmitters The 103.9 FM signal comes high on the Winter Hill transmitter, and its height gives it the greatest coverage over Lancashire. BBC Asian Network is a British Asian radio station owned and operated by the BBC. The station's target audience is people "with an interest in British Asian lifestyles", especially British Asians between the ages of 18 and 34.
