Alexander "Sandy" Whistler Street, is an Australian federal judge and naval commander, and a scion of the Street family. His father Sir Laurence Whistler Street, grandfather Sir Kenneth Whistler Street and great-grandfather Sir Philip Whistler Street each served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales. His sister Sylvia and brother-in-law Arthur Emmett also served as federal judges. George Brandis
George Henry Brandis (born 22 June 1957) is a former Australian politician. He was a Senator for Queensland from 2000 to 2018, representing the Liberal Party, and was a cabinet minister in the Abbott and Turnbull governments. He was later High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2018 to 2022. Brandis studied law at the University of Queensland and Magdalen College, Oxford. Before entering politics he practised as a barrister. He was appointed to the Senate in 2000 to fill the casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Warwick Parer. William Lawson (explorer)
William Lawson, (2 June 1774 – 16 June 1850) was a British soldier, explorer, land owner, grazier and politician who migrated to Sydney, New South Wales in 1800. Along with Gregory Blaxland and William Wentworth, he pioneered the 1813 crossing of the Blue Mountains, first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Blue Mountains by British colonists. Early life Lawson was born in Finchley, Middlesex, England to John Lawson and his second wife Hannah Summers. His father owned a successful chandler (occupation), chandler business and was a descendant of the aristocratic Richard Lawson of High Riggs, Scottish Lawson family of Cairnmuir House in the Pentland Hills. Edward David Stuart Ogilvie
Edward David Stuart Ogilvie (25 July 1814 – 25 January 1896) was an English-born Australian politician and businessman. He served as a member of the Upper House of the New South Wales parliament. He built the renowned estate Yulgilbar. Biography He was born in Tottenham to Royal Navy officer William Ogilvie of Clan Ogilvie, and Mary White. On 2 September 1858 he married Theodosia de Burgh, with whom he had ten children and who died in 1886. He married Alicia Georgiana Loftus Tottenham on 21 December 1890. George Kenyon Holden
George Kenyon Holden, (1808 – 16 April 1874) was an Australian Crown Prosecutor, banker and politician who served on the New South Wales Legislative Council. In correspondence with his associate John Stuart Mill, he was one of the first politicians in the world to propose proportional representation to parliament in 1861. Holden was a trustee of the New South Wales Savings Bank, a director of the Liverpool and London Fire and Life Insurance Company, the chairman of the National Schools Board, and president of the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. John Brown Watt (16 May 1826 – 28 September 1897) was a Scottish-born Australian businessman, banker, and politician. Watt was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council in Sydney and a board member of the Imperial Federation League in London. Outside of state politics, he was a director of the Union Bank of Australia (now the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited) and the CSR Limited, Colonial Sugar Refining Company.
