Tamms is a village in Alexander County, Illinois, United States. The population was 430 at the 2020 census, down from 632 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cape Girardeau–Jackson, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Tamms was established under the name of Idlewild in 1883. The railroad service ended in the 1970s and therefore the economy declined.
