Sandro Angiolini
Sandro Angiolini (6 June 1920 – 15 October 1985) was an Italian comics creator. Biography Angiolini was born in Milan. In 1966 he was the first to illustrate one of Italy's most important adult comics, ''Isabella'', written by Renzo Barbieri and Giorgio Cavedon. He was also involved in the creation of ''Goldrake'', '' Vartan'', ''Una'', ''Belzeba'' and ''La Poliziotta''. Amongst the group of Italian artists who created comic strips for adults between the 1960s and 1970s, (which had become increasingly pornographic by the eighties), the style of Sandro Angiolini stands out. This style originally owed much to Milton Caniff, one of his initial sources of inspiration, but followed a clear and marked line of development, parallel to the development of Italian fumetti, but unique. ''Isabella'' ( it, Isabella Duchessa dei Diavoli, i.e. "Isabella Duchess of the Devils") is an Italian comic book series created by Giorgio Cavedon as the writer and Sandro Angiolini as artist. History The series started in 1966 and it was inspired in plot and title by the renowned novel ''Angélique, the Marquise of the Angels'' and its on-screen adaptation, which had had a significant success at the Italian box office. Set in 17th century France, it features the adventures of Isabella de Frissac, an uninhibited noblewoman who works as a secret agent for cardinal Richelieu and, in the course if her missions, faces any sort of vexation and torture. Renzo Barbieri
Renzo Barbieri (10 March 1940 – 23 September 2007) was an author and editor of Italian comics as well as the founder of the publishing house Edifumetto. In 1980 he wrote ''Il Manuale del Playboy'' (Manual for Playboys), a textbook about where European playboys live, what cars they drive, and other lifestyle tips. Vartan (comics)
''Vartan'' is an Italian comic book created and drawn by Sandro Angiolini, and published in 200 issues between October 1969 and May 1977 by Furio Viano. An attempt to relaunch the publication in 1980 lasted only six issues. The comic book featured the erotic adventures of its heroine, described as "white Indian", in a classic western setting. The title character's name and features were loosely inspired by French singer and actress Sylvie Vartan, at the time quite popular in Italy thanks to a number of hits and television appearances. Vartan is one of many such characters from the Italian '' fumetti'' tradition. Milton Arthur Paul Caniff (; February 28, 1907 – April 3, 1988) was an People of the United States, American cartoonist famous for the ''Terry and the Pirates (comic strip), Terry and the Pirates'' and ''Steve Canyon'' comic strips. Biography Caniff was born in Hillsboro, Ohio. He was an Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Caniff did cartoons for local newspapers while studying at Stivers High School (now Stivers School for the Arts) in Dayton Ohio. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ), though since 2007, his son Boris Kousemaker is the current owner. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27.
