Sandra Fong
Sandra Fong (born April 15, 1990, in New York, New York) is an American Olympic sport shooter. She is a multiple-time American junior record holder, and a three-time medalist (one gold and two silver) for the small-bore rifle prone and rifle three positions at the U.S. National Shooting Championships. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Fong competed in the women's 50 m rifle 3 positions, finishing in 21st place. She won a gold medal, as a member of the U.S. rifle shooting team, at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Munich, Germany. Family life and education Fong was born and raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York by her parents Nicole Bergman, an attorney, and Yuman Fong, a resident surgeon at the Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center, emigrating from Hong Kong. United States At The 2008 Summer Paralympics
The United States sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. A total of 213 U.S. competitors took part in 18 sports; the only 2 sports Americans did not compete in were soccer 5-a-side and 7-a-side. The American delegation included 16 former members of the U.S. military, including 3 veterans of the Iraq War. Among them were shot putter Scott Winkler, who was paralyzed in an accident in Iraq, and swimmer Melissa Stockwell, a former United States Army officer who lost her left leg to a roadside bomb in the war. The United States finished third in the gold and overall medal count, behind host nation China and Great Britain. USA Shooting (USAS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, was chartered by the United States Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of shooting in April 1995. The NRA had served as the NGB for one hundred years prior to this change in administration. It is USA Shooting's mission to prepare American athletes to win Olympic medals, promote the shooting sports throughout the U.S., and govern the conduct of international shooting in the country. Jamie Lynn Corkish (formerly Gray, née Beyerle, born May 26, 1984) is an American sport shooter who won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
