Sandra Douglas
Sandra Marie Douglas (born 22 April 1967) is a female English former athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres. She won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Career Douglas was born in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. She competed for Great Britain at the 1992 Summer Olympics held in Barcelona, Spain, where she ran her lifetime best of 51.41 secs to reach the semifinals of the 400 metres, before going on to win a bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay, with her teammates Phyllis Smith, Jennifer Stoute and Sally Gunnell. Douglas also competed for England at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Cheetham Hill
Cheetham is an inner-city area and electoral ward of Manchester, England, which in 2011 had a population of 22,562. It lies on the west bank of the River Irk, north of Manchester city centre, close to the boundary with Salford, bounded by Broughton to the north, Harpurhey to the east, and Piccadilly and Deansgate to the south. Historically part of Lancashire, Cheetham was a township in the parish of Manchester and hundred of Salford. The township was amalgamated into the Borough of Manchester in 1838, and in 1896 became part of the North Manchester township. UK Athletics Championships
The UK Athletics Championships was an annual national championship in track and field for the United Kingdom, organised by the British Athletics Federation. The event incorporated the 1980 Olympic trials for the British Olympic team. The venue for the event was rotational and designed to be inclusive – all four Home Nations hosted the event during its twenty-year existence, as well as several areas of England.
