Sandfields East ( cy, Dwyrain Traethmelyn) is an electoral ward and a community of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. It is part of the parliamentary constituency of Aberavon. The ward elects three county councillors to Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Description The community is coterminous with the electoral ward. Sandfields East is bounded by the wards of Sandfields West to the northwest, Aberavon to the northeast and Margam to the southeast. It is bounded by Swansea Bay to the southwest. At the 2011 UK Census the population of the community/ward was 6,895. Sandfields East is a mostly urbanised ward and consists of council housing inland with private homes and old peoples accommodation near the beach area. 2017 United Kingdom Local Elections
The 2017 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 4 May 2017. Local elections were held across Great Britain, with elections to 35 English local authorities and all councils in Scotland and Wales. Newly created combined authority mayors were directly elected in six areas of England: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, the Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, the West Midlands, and the West of England. In addition, Doncaster and North Tyneside re-elected local authority mayors. Local by-elections for 107 council seats also took place on 4 May. UKIP
The UK Independence Party (UKIP; ) is a Eurosceptic, right-wing populist political party in the United Kingdom. Captain Beany (born Barry Kirk on 23 September 1954) is a Welsh eccentric and charity fundraiser in Sandfields, Port Talbot, South Wales. Biography Kirk worked in the computer department of the British Petroleum chemical plant in Baglan, Neath Port Talbot. In May 1991, he changed his name by deed poll to Captain Beany. He began painting his face and bald head orange, donned a golden cape, pants, gloves and boots. To date, Captain Beany claims to have raised over £100,000 for charity through participation in various events, such as the London and New York Marathons. In 1986 Beany set a world record for the longest time sitting in a bath full of baked beans, which lasted over 100 hours. In 2006, Beany appeared on the BBC programme, '' Let Me Entertain You''. In September 2008, Beany climbed Snowdon carrying baked beans in aid of cancer research.
