The Sand River is a major tributary of the Beaver River in Alberta, Canada. Course The Sand River originates in a system of lakes in northern Alberta, between Winefred Lake and Cold Lake and at an elevation of . From there it flows generally towards the south and west. It enters the Caribou Lake, then continues north-west and west until it receives the waters of Ipiatik River, then turns south. It flows between Standish Lake, Spencer Lake and Seibert Lake, east of the Lakeland Provincial Park, then receives the waters of Wolf River, west of Wolf Lake. It receives the Punk Creek from Pinehurst Lake before it is crosses by Highway 55 (part of the Northern Woods and Water Route) at Truman. It then turns eastwards and flows into the Beaver River, at an elevation of . The Beaver River is a major tributary of the Churchill River, which flows east into Hudson Bay. The Sand River (French: ''Rivière Sand'') is a river in the Unorganized North Part of Algoma District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Shows river course. It is in the Great Lakes Basin, is a tributary of Lake Superior, and its entire course lies within Lake Superior Provincial Park. The river is named after the sand bar formed across its mouth. The Ojibway name for the river is ''Pinguisibi'', where ''pingui'' means ''fine white sand'' and ''sibi'' means ''river''. Course The Sand River begins at Sand Lake, in geographic Stoney Township, on which is located the railway point of Sand Lake on the Algoma Central Railway. It leaves the lake South over Sand Lake Dam about west of the community of Millwood. Sand River (Limpopo)
The Sand River or Polokwane River ( af, Sandrivier) is a watercourse in Limpopo Province, South Africa, a right hand tributary of the Limpopo River. Its new name "Polokwane River" is homonymous with the name of the town of Polokwane, formerly Pietersburg, about upriver from its mouth. The Sand River flows by the western edge of this town. Course It has its source south of Mokopane and flows northwards across central Limpopo Province until it cuts across the Soutpansberg through a deep gorge, the Waterpoort. Then it meanders northwards across the Lowveld until it joins the right bank of the Limpopo east of Musina. Although considered a perennial stream it is often dry in the winter. The veld in the Sand River basin has suffered much degradation, mainly due to overgrazing. There are some wetland zones in the basin. The Mokolo River is a major watercourse in Limpopo Province of South Africa. This river collects much of the drainage of the Waterberg Massif and discharges it to the Limpopo River. The river's catchment area comprises . Course The Mokolo River and its upper course tributaries rise in the southwestern part of the Waterberg, between 1200 and 1600 metres above mean sea level. The Mokolo proper originates about 1.5 km north of Alma at the confluence of the Sand River with the Grootspruit River in a flattish, open area with numerous koppies. Shortly thereafter it flows northwards through a steep gorge emerging above the town of Vaalwater.
