San Pietro In Valle, Fano
San Pietro in Valle is a Baroque architecture, baroque-style church located on Via Nolfi/Via San Francesco in the town of Fano, province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche region of Italy. History A more ancient church dedicated to St Peter had been located at this spot, in the incline (ad vallum) between the old Roman town and the coast. The location gave the church an original name that changed into in valle. The present church was erected by the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri, Oratorians, who called on Giovanni Battista Cavagna from Naples to design the church just after 1608 until his death in 1613. The church was consecrated in 1617. The facade remain incomplete, although the interior is rich in decoration. The dome was built (1696) atop an octagonal tiburium by Girolamo Caccia, and decorated on the interior by Lauro Buonaguardia in 1699-1700. Gian Giacomo Pandolfi
Giovanni Giacomo Pandolfi (1567–1636) was an Italian painter, who was born and lived in Pesaro. Biography He was likely the son of the painter Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi, also from Pesaro, who had married the sister of the painter Girolamo Danti. Gian Giacomo studied with Federico and Taddeo Zuccari, but was strongly influenced by another artist, Federico Barocci. His best known work adorns the ceiling and the Oratory of the Nome di Dio, in Pesaro, which was realized from 1617 to 1619. He has also many paintings in other churches and convents, such as in the Church of Sant'Andrea in Pesaro, in the Church of San Gimignano in Sant'Angelo in Vado, and in the Church of San Pietro in Valle in Fano. His style follows the Emilian mannerism, characterized by the sfumato of colors and well rounded human bodies. Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri
Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri (1589–1655) was an Italian painter and Caravaggisto. Guerrieri was born in Fossombrone. In 1606 he travelled to Rome where he studied under some notable artists including Orazio Gentileschi. Returning home in 1614, he completed two versions of the work ''Miracles of St. Nicholas of Tolentino''. Guerrieri made a second visit to Rome and earned a commission from Marcantonio II to do some frescoes and paintings. Upon completion he returned home again, and continued painting until after an accident in which his wife and daughter were killed.
