San Marino High School (SMHS) is a public high school in San Marino, California, United States, and the only high school in the San Marino Unified School District, Los Angeles County. According to the 2015 California Academic Performance Index Survey, the district is the 52nd highest-performing school in California, with a score of 932 points out of 1,000 possible. History San Marino High School was founded in 1952 after 50 years of utilizing South Pasadena High School in nearby South Pasadena. The high school is situated on the former site of Carver Elementary School. The reconstruction began in 1996 and was completed by support with bond issues and rigorous fund-raising by the San Marino Schools Endowment. Bill Redell (born April 17, 1941) is a former American football coach and member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Redell served as head coach at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, where in 1986, he led the Celts to a 13-1 record and the CIF-SS Big Five Conference Championship, avenging their only regular season loss with a 49-14 victory over St.John Bosco High at Anaheim Stadium. Robert Winston "Bob" Day (October 31, 1944 – March 15, 2012) was an American long-distance runner who competed at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. He lettered and graduated from UCLA where he was on Jim Bush's track team, winning an individual NCAA Championship in the mile in 1965, with the team title following at the 1966 NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Also while at UCLA, he became the 12th American to break four minutes for the mile in 1964, and held the school record (3:56.4) for 40 years. Gary Primm is a casino developer. He is the former chairman and chief executive of Primm Valley Resorts. Biography Primm grew up in San Marino, California. His father, Ernest Jay Primm, was an early developer of casinos. The town of Primm, Nevada is named after the Primmadonna casino, located there and developed by Gary's father, Ernest Primm.
