The San Jose Grizzlies were a professional indoor soccer team based in San Jose, California. The team was founded on November 24, 1993, and played in the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). After playing in the 1994 and 1995 CISL seasons, the Grizzlies folded in February 1996. The team played at San Jose Arena, which they shared with the San Jose Sharks, and had an average attendance of 3,712 across both seasons. San Jose Arena
The SAP Center at San Jose (originally known as San Jose Arena and the HP Pavilion at San Jose) is an indoor arena located in San Jose, California. Its primary tenant is the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, for which the arena has earned the nickname "The Shark Tank". History Plans for a San Jose arena began in the mid-1980s, when a group of local citizens formed Fund Arena Now (FAN). The group contacted city officials and pursued potential sponsors and partners from the NHL and NBA. In the late 1980s, mayor Tom McEnery met with FAN, and subsequently a measure to allocate local taxes for arena construction came up for a public vote on June 7, 1988, passing by a narrow margin. Neathan Gibson
Neathan Gibson (born 14 May 1970) is a Zimbabwean soccer player currently Coaching and Executive Director for Michigan Fire Juniors in Georgetown, Michigan. Career College Gibson played four years of college soccer at Lynn University, where he was a first team NAIA All-American and claimed Most Valuable Player Award laurels in the 1994 National Collegiate Senior Bowl. He also helped lead Lynn to the NAIA National Championship in 1991. Professional Gibson signed his first professional contract in 1994 when he signed with the San Jose Grizzlies of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. He later spent time playing in Malaysia with the Sarawak FA and in Japan with Albirex Niigata, before moving to Sweden where he played in the Allsvenskan for IFK Norrköping. Thompson Usiyan
Thompson Usiyan (27 April 1956 – 31 August 2021) was a Nigerian professional footballer who played as a forward. He holds the NCAA Division I career scoring record and played in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League, American Soccer League and Continental Indoor Soccer League. He was a member of the Nigerian Olympic soccer team which boycotted the 1976 Olympics. He made several appearances for the Nigeria national team. Youth career In 1976, Usiyan was selected as a member of the Nigerian 1976 Olympic team. Rhett Stowe Harty (born March 8, 1970 in Pasadena, California) is an American former soccer defender who spent one season in the Western Soccer League, one in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, one in the USISL and three with the MetroStars of Major League Soccer. Career High School and college Harty grew up in Los Angeles and attended Servite High School where he played on the boys’ soccer team. He was a Parade Magazine high school All American in 1987 and 1988. After graduating from Servite in 1988, he entered Stanford University. He played three years, then red shirted a season while he played with the U.S. Olympic soccer team as it qualified for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
