San Francisco Film Society
SFFILM, formerly known as The San Francisco Film Society, is a nonprofit arts organization located in San Francisco, California, that presents year-round programs and events in film exhibition, media education, and filmmaker services. The Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Society is Noah Cowan, who joined the organization in March 2014. Prior to Cowan, Ted Hope served as executive director between August 2012 and December 2013. Prior to Hope, SFFS was headed by Bingham Ray, who served for only ten weeks before his death in January 2012. Between 2005–2011, SFFS was led by Graham Leggat until his death in August 2011. Leadership for each of the San Francisco Film Society's areas of activity is currently provided by Director of Programming Rachel Rosen and Director of Filmmaker360 Michele Turnure-Salleo. Oday Rasheed
Oday Rasheed ( Arabic:عدي رشيد born June 17, 1973) is an Arab-American film director, screenwriter and producer born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. Rasheed immigrated to New York City in 2012. He has been living and working in Los Angeles since 2022. Rasheed's film debut Underexposure (2005) was “billed as the first feature shot in occupied Baghdad” after the U.S. Invasion of Iraq in 2003 where "Oday Rasheed has taken the term 'guerilla filmmaking' to a whole new level," according to Variety Magazine. Life Oday Rasheed was born in Baghdad, Iraq. After graduating from high school, he attended but did not graduate from the Institute for Electrical Science, the Institute for Applicable Art and the Faculty for Fine Arts in Baghdad. The Kenneth Rainin Foundation is an American family run foundation based in Oakland, California. The foundation funds early childhood education programs in Oakland, various arts programs around the San Francisco Bay Area, and research into inflammatory bowel disease. History The Kenneth Rainin Foundation was founded in 2007 by Kenneth Rainin, founder of Rainin Instrument Company, which sold a mainstream brand of laboratory pipettes. Anna Boden and Ryan K. Fleck are an American filmmaking duo. They are best known for their collaborations on the films '' Half Nelson'', '' Sugar'', '' It's Kind of a Funny Story'', ''Mississippi Grind'' and '' Captain Marvel''. Noah Cowan
Noah Cowan (born ) was the executive director of SFFILM from March 2014 to May 2019. He oversaw the organization's exhibition, education and filmmaker services. Before joining SFFILM, Cowan was the artistic director of TIFF Bell Lightbox. Early career Cowan was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended University of Toronto Schools before studying philosophy at McGill University, receiving a bachelor of arts in 1989. Cowan is Jewish. Cowan began his career performing various roles at the Toronto International Film Festival. His first venture as a programmer was the Midnight Madness program, launched in 1989.
