San Francisco De Asis Cathedral Basilica (Santa Fe)
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi ( es, Catedral basílica de San Francisco de Asís), commonly known as Saint Francis Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The cathedral was built by Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy between 1869 and 1886 on the site of an older adobe church, La Parroquia (built in 1714–1717). An older church on the same site, built in 1626, was destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt. The new cathedral was built around La Parroquia, which was dismantled once the new construction was complete. A small chapel on the north side of the cathedral was kept from the old church. Influenced by the French-born Archbishop Lamy and in dramatic contrast to the surrounding adobe structures, Saint Francis Cathedral was designed in the Romanesque Revival style. The St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral ( es, Catedral de San Francisco de Asís de El Aaiún; french: Cathédrale de Saint François d'Assise) or just Spanish Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church that serves as the cathedral church of the apostolic prefecture of Western Sahara (''Praefectura Apostolica de Sahara Occidentali''). It is located in the city of Laayoune (''El Aaiún''), Western Sahara, a territory that is in dispute between Morocco and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. The church was built in 1954, during the Spanish colonial presence in Spanish Sahara with the design of architect Diego Méndez, author of the project of "Valley of the Fallen" in San Lorenzo de El Escorial in Spain. The Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish ( fil, Parokyang Katedral ni San Francisco Javier), otherwise known as Kabankalan Cathedral ( fil, Katedral ng Kabankalan), is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabankalan in the Philippines. It is located in the city proper of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the country. History Christianization efforts in the island of Negros were started by the Augustinian Recollects during the Spanish colonial period. Kabankalan, then spelled as ''Cavancalan'' and ''Cabangcalan'', was formerly a sitio of the neighboring municipality of Ilog. It is named after the bangkal tree.
