San Diego Jewish Academy
San Diego Jewish Academy (SDJA) is an independent Jewish day school currently located in the Carmel Valley community of San Diego, California. The school is composed of three schools: SDJA Early Childhood Center, Golda Meir Lower School for grades K-5, and Maimonides Upper School for grades 6–12. As a pluralistic Jewish day school, SDJA is not affiliated with any one synagogue or movement of Judaism. SDJA is a pluralistic school and has "compacts" with a number of San Diego synagogues. History SDJA began as a small neighborhood school in rented facilities on the property of Congregation Tifereth Israel in 1979. In 1999, San Diego Jewish Academy built a 40-acre campus in Carmel Valley. The school is still located on this property, which has since been named the Jaffe Campus following a $7 million donation by the Jaffe family. As of 2013, SDJA is a 56-acre campus. The CIF San Diego Section (CIF-SDS) is the governing body of high school athletics for most of the two southernmost counties of California (San Diego and Imperial Counties), one of ten such sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Its membership includes most public and private high schools in San Diego and Imperial counties. History Official governance for high school sports in this area began in 1913, when the Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Council (SCIAC) was formed. David Schipper
David Schipper (born September 27, 1991) is an American soccer coach and retired player. Career Early career Schipper was born and raised in San Diego, California. He attended Bonita Vista High School, and helped lead them to be ranked #2 in the County in his lone year of playing high school soccer, instead spending his youth at the club level with the La Jolla Nomads playing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA). While playing for the Nomads, Schipper was called up to multiple youth national team camps and was selected to the national team pool for the United States U-17 men's national soccer team in November 2009.
