San Diego County Board Of Supervisors
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is the legislative branch of the county government of San Diego County, California. Though officially nonpartisan, three Democrats and two Republicans currently comprise the Board of Supervisors, with the latest election occurring in 2020. History Between 1995 and 2013, the same five people, all Republican, held seats in the Board of Supervisors: Greg Cox, Bill Horn, Diane Jacob, Ron Roberts, and Pam Slater-Price. In 2012, Democrat Dave Roberts won the seat from the retiring Slater-Price, who endorsed his candidacy. However, Encinitas Mayor Kristin Gaspar, a Republican, unseated the lone Democrat in 2016, whose campaign was harmed by a workplace scandal. Nathan Fletcher
Nathan Fletcher (born December 31, 1976) is an American politician and professor serving on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors for the 4th District since 2019 and as the Chair since 2021. Previously, he served two terms in the California State Assembly and is a professor of practice in political science at the University of California, San Diego. /sup> Early life and education Fletcher was born and spent the early years of his life in Carson City, Nevada. His parents divorced when he was two years old, and his mother Sherrie Morgan moved with him to Smackover, Arkansas. Jim Desmond
Jim Desmond is an American politician, businessman, and pilot who serves as a member of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors from the fifth district. He previously served as the mayor of San Marcos, California from 2006 to 2014. He is a Republican. Education Desmond earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University. Steve Vaus (also known as Buck Howdy; born April 7, 1952) is an American recording artist and politician who was elected mayor of Poway, California in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. Poway () is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The unincorporated community became a city on December 1, 1980. Poway's rural roots influenced its motto "The City in the Country". The city has a population of 49,701 as of 2019. Poway is considered part of San Diego's North County. A Republican, he is a former California state senator, assemblyperson, and board member of a municipal water district. Bonnie Dumanis
Bonnie Michelle Dumanis (born December 16, 1951) was the District Attorney of San Diego County, California. She held the office 2003 to 2017. Dumanis is a Republican, though the office she held was officially nonpartisan. She was the first openly gay or lesbian DA in the country. She was the first woman and the first Jewish District Attorney in San Diego. Early life and education Dumanis grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ann and Abraham "Abe" Dumanis. San Diego County District Attorney
The San Diego County District Attorney is the elected district attorney for San Diego County, California. This office is responsible for the prosecution of both felony and misdemeanor violations of California state law that occur within the jurisdiction of San Diego County, California. Courts within their jurisdiction includes the San Diego Superior Court, the California Court of Appeal for the Fourth District, and the California Supreme Court. Federal law violations are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.
