San Andrés Cohamiata is an autonomously governed Wixárika ( Huichol) village located in Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico. The village is called ''Tatei Kié'' in the native Wixárika language. Huichol
The Huichol or Wixárika are an indigenous people of Mexico and the United States living in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco, Zacatecas, and Durango, as well as in the United States in the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. They are best known to the larger world as the ''Huichol'', although they refer to themselves as ''Wixáritari'' ("the people") in their native Huichol language. The adjectival form of ''Wixáritari'' and name for their own language is ''Wixárika''. Mezquitic
Mezquitic Municipality is a municipality in the north of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It is bordered to the north east and west by the state of Zacatecas. It also shares its northern border with Huejuquilla el Alto Municipality and it shares its southern border with Villa Guerrero Municipality and Bolaños Municipality. The municipality includes a number of autonomously governed Wixárika (Huichol) communities, including San Andrés Cohamiata. Tuxpan de Bolaños is a Huichol settlement in the Bolaños Municipality of Jalisco Jalisco (, , ; Nahuatl: Xalixco), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Jalisco ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Jalisco ; Nahuatl: Tlahtohcayotl Xalixco), is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal En ..., Mexico. Nayarit
Nayarit (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Nayarit ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Nayarit), is one of the 31 states that, along with Mexico City, comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico.
