Samuel ''Šəmūʾēl'', Tiberian: ''Šămūʾēl''; ar, شموئيل or صموئيل '; el, Σαμουήλ ''Samouḗl''; la, Samūēl is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. He is venerated as a prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In addition to his role in the Hebrew scriptures, Samuel is mentioned in Jewish rabbinical literature, in the Christian New Testament, and in the second chapter of the Quran (although Islamic texts do not mention him by name). He is also treated in the fifth through seventh books of ''Antiquities of the Jews'', written by the Jewish scholar Josephus in the first century. He is first called "the Seer" in 1 Samuel 9:9. Samuel Albert White
Captain Samuel Albert White (20 December 1870 – 19 January 1954) was a wealthy Australian racehorse owner, soldier, explorer, conservationist and amateur ornithologist. He was born in Fulham, South Australia and eventually died there. He fought in the South African War 1900–1903, reaching the rank of captain, which title he continued to use throughout his life. He made several private ornithological collecting expeditions across remote areas of Australia, to Alice Springs (1913), Musgrave and Everard Ranges (1914), Cooper Creek (1916), Nullarbor Plain (1917-1918), Finke River (1921), and Adelaide to Darwin and return (1922), on behalf of Gregory Mathews. White was a foundation member of the South Australian Ornithological Association (SAOA) in 1899, and served as its president for several periods between 1904 and 1944. Samuel White (Irish Politician)
Samuel White ( – 29 May 1854) was an Irish Whig politician. White was the second son of Luke White, MP for from 1818 to his death in 1824, and Elizabeth née de la Maziere. He was also brother of Henry White, MP for , and Luke White, Junior, Repeal Association MP for , and, in 1821, married Salisbury Anne Rothe, daughter of George Rothe. He may also have served briefly in the army. Between 1809 and 1810, he served as High Sheriff of Leitrim and then, upon the death of his father, he received an annuity of £7,000, and immediately declared to stand for election as MP for Leitrim at a by-election in 1824, stating his principles were similar to those of his father who had "loved Ireland and belonged to no party". He was elected unopposed, but then remained fairly silent in the Commons, emulating his brother, Henry, who generally sided with the Whigs. Samuel White (December 1770 – November 4, 1809) was an American lawyer and politician from Wilmington, in New Castle County, Delaware. He was a member of the Federalist Party, who served as U.S. Senator from Delaware. Early life and family White was born December 1770, in Mispillion Hundred, Kent County, Delaware, near Harrington, close to Whitesburg, the son of Judge Thomas White. The future Methodist Bishop, Francis Asbury, hid in this house during the Revolutionary War years of 1778 to 1780. Methodists were generally suspected of being Loyalists, and Thomas White was arrested on this charge. While in the White home, Asbury developed many of the ideas that would shape the future of American Methodism. Converted by Asbury, the previously devout Anglican family became members of the Methodist Church. Samuel "Sammy" White (born 19 June 1987) is a 1.0 point wheelchair basketball player from Australia. He was a member of the Rollers team that competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Biography White was born on 19 June 1987. In 2010, a motorcycle accident left him without the use of his legs. White moved from Adelaide to Wisconsin with his family to join the University of Washington wheelchair basketball team while studying information technology systems.
