Samuel Odoi-Sykes
Samuel Arthur Odoi-Sykes is a Ghanaian politician, diplomat and lawyer. He served as Ghana's High Commissioner to Canada from 2001 to 2006 and Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1972. He was National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party from 1998 to 2001 during which the party won its first presidential victory. In the Third Republic, he was Member of Parliament for Ashiedu Keteke (Accra Central) from 1979 to 1981 and Minority Leader of Parliament from 1980 to 1981. Early life Samuel Arthur Odoi Sykes was born in Accra. He was educated at Accra Academy, graduating as a member of the class of 1948. He matriculated at University of Ghana, graduating with a B.A. in History in 1959. Margaret Ivy Amoakohene
Margaret Ivy Amoakohene (born 17 July 1960) is a Ghanaian academic and diplomat. She has served in various sectors of governance and academia. She was Ghana's High Commissioner to Canada in the John Agyekum Kufour administration. She is a senior lecturer and acting director of the School of Communication Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon. She is currently a member of the Council of State. Early life and education Margaret Ivy Amoakohene was born on 17 July 1960 at Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo Region. She is a native of Nsawkaw, capital of the Tain District in the Brong Ahafo Region. She obtained her GCE Ordinary level certificate from St. Francis Secondary School in Jirapa, in the Upper West Region of Ghana from 1974 to 1979. She then proceeded to St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi to obtain her GCE Advanced level certificate. Barrister-at-Law
A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Their tasks include taking cases in superior courts and tribunals, drafting legal pleadings, researching law and giving expert legal opinions. Popular Front Party
The Popular Front Party (PFP) was the main opposition political party in Ghana during the Third Republic (1979-1981). In elections held on 18 June 1979, PFP presidential candidate Victor Owusu won 29.9% of the vote and the party won 42 of 140 seats in the National Assembly. Owusu was defeated by People's National Party (PNP) candidate Hilla Limann, 38%-62%, in a 9 July run-off election. Frederick William Kwasi Akuffo
Lieutenant General Frederick William "Fred" Kwasi Akuffo (21 March 1937 – 26 June 1979) was a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was Chief of the Defence Staff (Ghana), Chief of the Defence Staff of the Military of Ghana, Ghana Armed Forces from 1976 to 1978, and chairman of the ruling Supreme Military Council, Ghana, Supreme Military Council in Ghana from 1978 to 1979. He came to power in a military coup, and was overthrown and executed in another military coup less than a year later.
