Samuel J. Schultz
Samuel Jacob Schultz (9 June 1914 – 24 June 2005) was an American Old Testament scholar. He was a professor at Wheaton College, Illinois from 1949 to 1980, and emeritus professor from 1980. Samuel Jacob Schultz was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota and studied at Bethel College and Harvard Divinity School. He taught at Gordon College, Bethel College and St. Paul Bible College before going to Wheaton. He was an ordained minister, and was a member successively of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, the Baptist General Conference and the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference. Schulz wrote ''The Old Testament Speaks'' (1960), as well as the Leviticus and Deuteronomy volumes of the ''Everyman's Bible Commentary'' series. He was editor of ''Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society'' from 1962 to 1975. In 1983 a ''Festschrift'' was published in his honor. Old Testament
The Old Testament (often abbreviated OT) is the first division of the Christian biblical canon, which is based primarily upon the 24 books of the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh, a collection of ancient religious Hebrew writings by the Israelites. The second division of Christian Bibles is the New Testament, written in the Koine Greek language. The Old Testament consists of many distinct books by various authors produced over a period of centuries. Merrill Tenney
Merrill Chapin Tenney (April 16, 1904 – March 18, 1985) was an American professor of New Testament and Greek and author of several books. He was the general editor of the Zondervan Pictorial Bible Dictionary, and served on the original translation team for the New American Standard Bible. Background and education Tenney was born April 16, 1904 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, to Wallace Fay Tenney and Lydia Smith Goodwin. He earned a diploma from Nyack Missionary Training Institute (1924), his Th.B. from Gordon College of Theology and Missions (1927), his A.M. from Boston University (1930), and his Ph.D. in Biblical and Patristic Greek from Harvard University (1944). Mennonite Writers
Mennonites are groups of Anabaptist Christian church communities of denominations. The name is derived from the founder of the movement, Menno Simons (1496–1561) of Friesland. Through his writings about Reformed Christianity during the Radical Reformation, Simons articulated and formalized the teachings of earlier Swiss founders, with the early teachings of the Mennonites founded on the belief in both the mission and ministry of Jesus, which the original Anabaptist followers held with great conviction, despite persecution by various Roman Catholic and Mainline Protestant states.
