Carlos Dews
Carlos Dews (born September 26, 1963) is an American writer and university professor. He is the chair of the Department of English Language and Literature at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. He co-writes a paranormal thriller series with S. J. Rozan under the pseudonym Sam Cabot. Samuel Cabot III (September 20, 1815 – April 13, 1885) was an American physician, surgeon, and ornithologist, as well as a member of the wealthy and prominent Cabot family. Early life Samuel Cabot III was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 20, 1815 to Samuel Cabot, Jr. and Elizabeth Cabot (née Perkins). His father, Samuel Cabot, Jr. and his grandfather, Thomas Handasyd Perkins, were two of the wealthiest men in 19th-century Boston. Samuel Cabot Incorporated is a manufacturer of wood stain and other wood finishes. It was founded by Samuel Cabot IV in 1877 and remained privately held until it was acquired by the Valspar Corporation in 2005. Its best-known brand is Cabot Stain. Its headquarters are in Newburyport, Massachusetts. History Samuel Cabot IV studied chemistry at M.I.T. and Zurich Polytechnic (now ETH Zurich). After visiting factories in Europe, he was inspired to work on coal tar-based products. He set up a laboratory in Chelsea, Massachusetts and his brother Godfrey joined him in 1882. They produced household disinfectant, sheep dip, wood preservatives, and shingle stain using coal tar that was a by-product of the gas works in Boston. They later bought a factory in Worthington, Pennsylvania which produced lampblack for making ink from natural gas. Plot introduction Police lieutenant Lindsay Boxer takes leave from the force after being sued for wrongful death after a recent shootout. She stays at her sister’s house in Half Moon Bay, and reads about murders that resemble one that haunted her for 10 years. She joins with the local police to solve the murders, while dreading her awaiting trial. Plot summary When Lindsay Boxer gets a lead on a recent murder of two teenagers, she responds to the call and joins Warren Jacobi on a stakeout of a Mercedes. When the car takes off, a high speed chase ends in a crash. The officers discover two teenagers in their father’s car, who are scared and have been hurt.
