Sampson Lewkowicz
Sampson Lewkowicz (born January 10, 1951, in Montevideo) is an Uruguayan-American boxing promoter and manager, whose notable clients have included Sergio Martinez, Magomed Abdusalamov, Javier Fortuna, and Gabriel Campillo. Lewkowicz is also credited for having discovered Manny Pacquiao prior to the Filipino fighter's arrival in the United States, and served as matchmaker for Sultan Ibragimov. Lewkowicz is the president of Sampson Boxing, a promotional and advising company for boxers. Lewkowicz has gained notable recognition for his role as chief adviser to multi-division world champion Sergio Martinez. Montevideo () is the capital and largest city of Uruguay. Magomed Abdusalamov (russian: Магомед Абдусаламов; born 25 March 1981) is a Russian former professional boxer who competed from 2008 to 2013. As an amateur he won the 2005 and 2006 Russian national championships in the super-heavyweight division. He turned professional in 2008, fighting nineteen times at heavyweight and winning his first eighteen by knockout. In 2013, Abdusalamov was forced to retire from the sport due to severe brain injuries sustained during his only career defeat. Javier Fortuna Francisco (born July 15, 1989) is a Dominican professional boxer. He held the WBA interim featherweight title from 2012 to 2013, the WBA (Regular) super featherweight title from 2015 to 2016, and challenged for the IBF lightweight title in 2018. Gabriel Campillo (born 19 December 1978) is a Spanish former professional boxer who competed from 2002 to 2015, and held the WBA light-heavyweight title from 2009 to 2010. Ismaikel "Mike" Perez (born 20 October 1985) is a Cuban-Irish professional boxer who holds the WBA Intercontinental Cruiserweight title and challenged once for the WBC cruiserweight title in 2017. Background Perez was a successful amateur boxer in Cuba. In 2005, while competing with the Cuban team at a tournament in Liverpool, he caught the eye of Irish boxing promoter Gary Hyde.
