Samotsvety
Samotsvety (russian: Самоцветы, which means "''Semiprecious Stones''") is a Soviet VIA band formed in 1971, in Moscow. It became one of the more successful and better known VIA bands, recording a number of hits and serving as a springboard to fame for several Russian musicians, including Dmitry Malikov, Vladimir Presnyakov Sr., and Alexander Barykin. History The band Samotsvety, was founded by Yuriy Malikov, a Recognized National Artist of Russia and the father of Dmitry Malikov. Dmitry Malikov
Dmitry Yurievich Malikov (russian: Дмитрий Юрьевич Маликов; born 29 January 1970) is a Russian actor, composer, singer and a recent record producer. Early life Dmitry Malikov, who goes by his nickname Dima (Дима), was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. His mother, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Vyunkova, was a dancer, and his father, Yuriy Fedorovich Malikov (Юрий Федорович Маликов), was part of a band called Samotsvety (Самоцветы). This combination of parental talent had a large influence in his becoming a musician. In the early 70s, Samotsvety became one of the most popular groups in the USSR, selling several million records. Vladimir Borisovich Kuzmin (russian: Влади́мир Борисович Кузьмин born 31 May 1955) is a Russian rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Biography Kuzmin is the son of Boris Kuzmin, a naval officer, and Natalya Kuzmina, a Russian language and literature teacher. When he was young boy, Kuzmin played violin in musical school. He wrote his first song when he was six years old. He learned to play guitar on his own. He organized his first band, Aelita, in the 6th grade. Two years later, on school evenings, he performed songs of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin along with his own material. Aleksander Aleksandrovich Barykin (Byrykin) (russian: Александр Александрович Барыкин (Бырыкин); February 18, 1952 — March 26, 2011) was a Soviet and Russian singer and songwriter. Biography Alexander Barykin was born on February 18, 1952, in Beryozovo ( Khanty-Mansia). He was a young boy when his parents moved to Lybertsy, a suburb near Moscow. While still in school, Barykin sang and played guitar in an amateur band called Allegro. He went to musical school and then earned a degree in the classical vocal program at the Gnesins Musical College. In the 1970s, Barykin was a member of the VIA bands Moskvichi (1973 — 1974), Vesiolie Rebiata (1974 — 1976, 1978 — 1979), Samotsvety (1976) and Jemchug (1976 — 1978). Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band formed in 1967 in The Hague. It was part of the music movement in the Netherlands that was generally known by the name Nederbeat.
