Samantha Kate Winward (born 12 October 1985) is an English actress, singer and model. She is best known for playing the role of Katie Sugden in the ITV (TV network), ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' from 2001 to 2015. Early life Winward was born in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. She attended Turton High School Media Arts College in Bromley Cross, South Turton, England. Personal life Winward was engaged to footballer David Dunn. Katie Sugden (also Addyman and Macey) is a fictional character from the British ITV (TV network), ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Sammy Winward. She made her first screen appearance on 18 July 2001 and Winward's casting was announced a week prior. The character was introduced as a love interest for Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) and their relationship was a focus point for most of the character's tenure. Winward took maternity leave in 2005, returning the following year. Katie's later stories include relationships with Adam Barton (Emmerdale), Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) and Declan Macey (Jason Merrells), the latter whom she marries. Writers placed Katie in danger in 2012 when she is involved in a mineshaft accident. Ryan Alexander Hawley (born 21 September 1985) is an English actor, known for his portrayal of Robert Sugden in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' from 2014 to 2019. Early life Hawley, son of Christine and Steve, spent his childhood partly in Sheffield and partly in the UAE due to his parents' work, making him a Third Culture Kid. ''The Chase'' is a British television quiz show broadcast on ITV1 and hosted by Bradley Walsh. Contestants play against a professional quizzer, known as the "chaser", who attempts to prevent them from winning a cash prize.
