Sami Laakkonen
Sami Laakkonen (born 24 February 1974) is a Finnish former bandy player who played as a forward. Laakkonen was brought up by WP 35 but moved abroad to enhance his career. He played for the Finnish national bandy team, scoring the decisive goal in the final of the 2004 World Championship. At the 2016 World Championship, he made his last appearance as a national team player. After the 2018–19 season he also retired at club level. Finland National Bandy Team
The Finnish national bandy team ( fi, Suomen jääpallomaajoukkue, sv, Finlands herrlandslag i bandy) has taken part in all the Bandy World Championships for men since the competition was launched for the first time in 1957. Finland won the championship title in 2004. They have always finished in the top four, and have won 28 medals in 36 championships. The team is controlled by Finland's Bandy Association. History Finland was represented by the club Polyteknikkojen Urheiluseura (PUS) in the winter games in Helsinki in 1907, but the team was beaten by a team from Sweden. Borgå Akilles ( fi, Porvoon Akilles), or more commonly just Akilles, is a Finnish sports club from the city of Porvoo. Akilles, named for Achilles in ancient Greek mythology, was founded in 1902 and is one of the oldest active football clubs in Finland. In Finland the club is mostly known for bandy. Zorky (russian: Зоркий) is a bandy club based in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. Its team currently plays in the Russian Bandy Super League, the top tier of the Russian bandy championship. The club was founded in 1954. Zorky have had some recent successes and reached the finals of the Bandy World Cup, Russian Cup and Champions Cup in the 2006–07 season only to lose to Dynamo Moscow in all three matches. In 2009 they reached the World Cup final again, this time losing to Hammarby. In 2012, they won the World Cup. The team was the best team of the regular season of the Russian Bandy Super League 2012–13 but lost the final against Dynamo Moscow for the national championship.
