Samantha May (born 16 September 1987), also known as Sam May, is a former Australian netball player who played for Hertfordshire Mavericks, Wasps and Loughborough Lightning in the Netball Superleague, featuring in five grand finals in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021, winning three times. In Australia, May played for Sydney Swifts and AIS Canberra Darters in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy and for New South Wales Swifts in the ANZ Championship. Early life and education Between 2017 and 2019 May attended the University of Hertfordshire and gained a BSc in Business and Sports Management. May also played netball for the University of Hertfordshire at BUCS intervarsity level. 2017 Netball Superleague Grand Final
The 2017 Netball Superleague season, 2017 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Wasps Netball, Wasps and Loughborough Lightning (netball), Loughborough Lightning. Wasps won the Netball Superleague title in their debut season, beating Lightning 55–51 in the grand final. Wasps led by one goal at the start of the final quarter, having dominated Lightning in the mid-court. Wasps centre, Bongiwe Msomi, was subsequently named player of the match. Wasps attacking combination of Rachel Dunn and Natalie Haythornthwaite proved too strong for Lightning. The Australia national netball team, also known as the Australian Diamonds, represent Netball Australia in international netball tournaments such as the INF Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Constellation Cup, the Netball Quad Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series. Canterbury Tactix
Mainland Tactix are a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Between 1998 and 2007, as Canterbury Flames, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Between 2008 and 2012 they were known as Canterbury Tactix. However, after Netball Mainland was established in October 2012, the team subsequently adopted their current name. The 2013 New South Wales Swifts season saw New South Wales Swifts compete in the 2013 ANZ Championship season, 2013 ANZ Championship. 2009 ANZ Championship Season
The 2009 ANZ Championship season was the second season of the ANZ Championship. The 2009 season began on 4 April and concluded on 26 July. Melbourne Vixens were minor premiers. With a team co-captained by Bianca Chatfield and Sharelle McMahon, Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall premiers. The Australian Netball Championships, formerly the Australian Netball League, is an Australian netball competition. Since 2008 it has served as a second level competition, initially below the ANZ Championship and later below Suncorp Super Netball. It is organised by Netball Australia. The teams in the competition are effectively the reserve teams of Suncorp Super Netball teams and/or the representative teams of state netball leagues, such as the South Australia state netball league, the Victorian Netball League and the West Australian Netball League. The Commonwealth Bank Trophy, also referred to as the National Netball League, was the top level national Australian netball league between 1997 and 2007. The league was organized by Netball Australia. Its main sponsor was the Commonwealth Bank. Melbourne Phoenix were the competition's most successful team, winning five premierships. Sydney Swifts were the second most successful team, winning four premierships. Between them, Phoenix and Swifts played in every grand final, except in 1999 when Adelaide Thunderbirds won the second of their two premierships.
