Samuel Baldwin Marks Young (January 9, 1840 – September 1, 1924) was a United States Army general. He also served as the first president of Army War College between 1902 and 1903. He then served from 1903 until 1904 as the first Chief of Staff of the United States Army.Although other sources claim Young was the 1st Chief of the Staff of the U.S. Army, in reality, the Department of the Army did not come into existence until 1947. Samuel Young (General Superintendent)
Samuel Young (1901–1990) was president of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, from 1944 to 1948 and general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene from 1948 to 1972. Young's son, Donald, would attend the Eastern Nazarene College and later become an interim president of Quincy College, which he saved from losing educational accreditation in 1994. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Young joined the Parkhead Church of the Nazarene in Glasgow. After coming to the United States with his parents at age 15 and settling in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 1928 and received a master's degree from Boston University in 1930, as well as being named an honorary doctor of divinity from Eastern Nazarene in 1945. Samuel Young (Irish Politician)
Samuel Young (26 February 1822 – 18 April 1918) was an Irish brewer and Protestant nationalist politician. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for East Cavan from 1892 until 1918, becoming the oldest serving member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Born in Dunevelly, near Portaferry in County Down, Young grew up in a Church of Ireland family and attended the Old Presbyterian School in Belfast before becoming a draper, eventually coming to run his own store. In 1872, he went into partnership to open a brewery in Limavady. Among his employees was future Nationalist Party leader Joseph Devlin. Despite his Protestant faith, Young supported the disestablishment of the Church of Ireland, and the cause of Home Rule. With Devlin's support, he was elected for the anti-Parnellite Irish National Federation in East Cavan at the 1892 general election. Samuel Young (1779, Lenox, Berkshire County, Massachusetts – November 3, 1850 Ballston, Saratoga County, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Life In 1813, he was Moderator of the Board of Supervisors of Saratoga County. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Saratoga Co.) in 1814 and 1814–15; and was Speaker in 1814-15. From 1816 to 1840, he was a member of the Erie Canal Commission. He was a member of the New York State Senate (Eastern D.) from 1818 to 1821, sitting in the 41st, 42nd, 43rd and 44th New York State Legislatures. In 1819. he was the Bucktails candidate for U.S. Senator from New York, but due to a three-cornered contest with Clintonian John C. Spencer and Federalist Rufus King, no-one was elected. Sam Young (born June 24, 1987) is a former American football offensive tackle who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and played college football at the University of Notre Dame. Early years Young attended Pine Crest School, playing tight end in football, defense in lacrosse, center on junior varsity basketball, and competed on the weight lifting team. After his freshmen season he transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He was moved to left tackle and did not allow a sack during his junior and senior years.
