Sam Yan Press ( th, สำนักพิมพ์สำนักนิสิตสามย่าน) is an independent publishing house established in 2017 by student activists, including Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, a prominent Thai student activist. This founding came after Netiwit was dismissed from his position as president of the Chulalongkorn University Student Council in the same year. The publishing house is known for its focus on books and translations that emphasize freedom of expression, human rights, and democracy. This includes critical perspectives on the Chinese government. The establishment aimed to create a space for students to engage in and translate political and societal literature from foreign languages into Thai. Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal
Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal ( th, เนติวิทย์ โชติภัทร์ไพศาล; born 10 September 1996), nicknamed Frank ( th, แฟรงก์), is a Thai student activist, librarian, preservationist, conscientious objector, producer, publisher, and author. He is a founder of TERA (Thailand Educational Revolution Alliance) and Education for Liberation of Siam. Both groups aim to reform the Thai education system. In addition, he has established Samnak Nisit Sam Yan Press for publishing thoughts and ideas in Thai language, and also Humanity Beyond Borders for giving assistance to refugees and those in needs of protection. Sam Yan
Sam Yan ( th, สามย่าน, ) is the name of an intersection and its nearby neighbourhood in Bangkok, Thailand. It connects Rama IV Road with Phaya Thai and Si Phraya roads, and is located within Pathum Wan District, next to its border with Bang Rak. The neighbourhood lies in the intersection's northwest corner on land owned by Chulalongkorn University, and is famous for its restaurants. Chulalongkorn University (CU, th, จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย, ), nicknamed Chula ( th, จุฬาฯ), is a public and autonomous research university in Bangkok, Thailand.
