Sam Williams (defensive Lineman)
Samuel F. Williams (March 9, 1931 – April 25, 2013) was an American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He was a 24th round selection (288th overall pick) of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1956 NFL Draft out of Michigan State University. Williams played for the Rams (1959), the Detroit Lions (1960–1965), and the Atlanta Falcons (1966–1967). Defensive End
Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. Michigan State University
Michigan State University (Michigan State, MSU) is a public university, public Land-grant university, land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan. It was founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, the first of its kind in the United States.
