Sam Myhrman
Major General Sam Oskar Myhrman (26 December 1912 – 3 February 1965) was a Swedish Air Force officer. His senior commands include the post of Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, head of the Swedish National Defence College and head of the Quartermaster Administration. Early life Myhrman was born on 26 December 1912 in Eksjö Parish, Jönköping County, Sweden, the son of colonel Sam Myhrman and his wife Anna (née Kjelleström). He was the brother of physician Gustaf Myhrman (1903–1901), and the director of the National Swedish Labour Market Board's (''Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen'') Defense Section, lieutenant colonel Bengt Myhrman (born 1905). One of his nephews were professor of economics at the Stockholm School of Economics, Johan Myhrman (1937–1997). Eksjö
Eksjö is a locality and the seat of Eksjö Municipality in Jönköping County, Sweden, with 9,701 inhabitants in 2010. History The city of Eksjö most likely appeared sometime in the Middle Ages when it was the centre for the ''thing'', a regional council. It is first mentioned on April 22, 1345, under the name "Ekesiö" in an estate sale court protocol. It was given its charter in 1403 by the King Erik av Pommern. In the 16th century Eksjö was one of the six Swedish cities in the province of Småland. The others were Jönköping, Kalmar, Västervik, Växjö and Vimmerby. After the crowning of King Gustav Vasa in 1524, the partisan leader Nils Dacke led a rebellion. Dacke took control of the area and was supported by the locals, also in Eksjö. Lidingö Cemetery
Lidingö Cemetery ( sv, Lidingö kyrkogård) is a cemetery located adjacent to Lidingö Church in Stockholm County, Sweden. It is centrally located on the island of Lidingö at an elevation adjacent to Kyrkviken's southern shore. South-west of the church is Hersbyholm and south on the other side of Ekholmsnäsvägen is one of Lidingö's well-known townhouse areas, Hersby Gärde. History Lidingö Church appears for the first time on a map from 1661. Also marked on the map are some of the farms and dwellings that were on the island at that time. Around the church and the cemetery an arched wall was built in 1755, which is partly preserved. The wreath of lime trees around the oldest part of the cemetery was planted around 1810. The cemetery was expanded south and east in 1854 and was then supplemented with new rows of lime trees. The cemetery continued to expand in turns both south and east in 1905 and in 1909. Order Of Vasa
The Royal Order of Vasa () is a Swedish order of chivalry, awarded to citizens of Sweden for service to state and society especially in the fields of agriculture, mining and commerce. It was instituted on 29 May 1772 by King Gustav III. It was unrestricted by birth or education and could therefore be awarded to anyone (as opposed to the Order of the Polar Star, which was intended as a reward for the learned professions). It was the most junior of all the Swedish orders. It was often awarded to Norwegian subjects of the dual monarchy until Oscar I founded the Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1847. Since 1974 the order is no longer conferred: officially it has been declared as "dormant", along with the Order of the Sword. The Royal Order of the Sword (officially: ''Royal Order of the Sword''; Swedish: ''Kungliga Svärdsorden'') is a Swedish order of chivalry and military decoration created by King Frederick I of Sweden on February 23, 1748, together with the Order of the Seraphim and the Order of the Polar Star. The motto of the order is in Latin: ''Pro Patria'' (which means "For Fatherland"). Awarded to officers, and originally intended as an award for bravery and particularly long or useful service, it eventually became a more or less obligatory award for military officers after a certain number of years in service. Major (Maj) ( sv, Major, Mj) is a field grade military officer rank in the Swedish Armed Forces, above the rank of captain and below the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is equivalent to the naval rank of lieutenant commander in the Swedish Navy. History The rank of major was introduced in the middle of the 16th century in the Spanish and German armies, and its holders were assigned to the regimental commander. After the introduction of the battalion division, the major was eventually given command of a battalion in all armies, as was the lieutenant colonel.
