Sam Hewson (born 28 November 1988) is an English footballer who plays as a centre midfielder for 1. delid karla side Þróttur Reykjavík. Club career Early career Born in Farnworth, near Bolton, Hewson began his career at his local club, AFC Bolton, at the age of eight. He played two matches for the team before being spotted by Manchester United's youth scouts. He was then offered a place in the Manchester United Academy a year later, and started training with the club before he had even reached ten years of age. Hewson started playing for the Manchester United under-17 team during the 2003–04 season, and scored in his second game. The following season, he only played one game for the under-18 side, in which he was substituted by Jamie Mullan. He signed a trainee contract with United in the summer of 2005, and became a regular in the under-18 team during the following season, playing in 28 matches including four in the FA Youth Cup. Farnworth is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England, southeast of Bolton, 4.3 miles south-west of Bury (7 km), and northwest of Manchester. The 2007–08 UEFA Champions League group stage matches took place between 18 September and 12 December 2007. Seeding and draw Seeding was determined by the UEFA coefficients. It is considered the third most important competition in Icelandic football. The pre-season tournament involves the top 22 clubs in Iceland from the previous season and the two clubs promoted from 2. deild, for a total of the 24 teams that will comprise the top two divisions in Iceland the following season. The 2013 Icelandic Cup, also known as the Borgunarbikar for sponsorship reasons, was the 54th edition of the Icelandic national football cup. It began with the first round on 30 April 2013 and ended on 17 August 2013. The Úrvalsdeild karla (, Men's Select Division) is the highest men's football league in Iceland. It has been played since 1912. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (May to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2015–2016, UEFA ranked the league No. 35 in Europe. From 27 April 2009, the league has had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi.
