Sam Harper (cricketer)
Samuel Bryan Harper (born 10 December 1996) is an Australian cricketer. He made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Victoria cricket team, Victoria on 3 February 2016 in the 2015–16 Sheffield Shield season, 2015–16 Sheffield Shield. He made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Melbourne Stars on 26 December 2016 in the 2016–17 Big Bash League season. In 2022, Harper was studying for a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education at Deakin University. Wantirna, Victoria
Wantirna is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 24 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Knox local government area. Wantirna recorded a population of 14,237 at the 2021 census. Its name is derived from the local aboriginal population's meaning for, "a gurgling stream". The Knox Private Hospital, Westfield Knox shopping centre, and Kieran are located in Wantirna. The EastLink tollway runs through Wantirna with interchanges at Boronia Road and Burwood Highway. Wantirna was first settled by Australians of European descent in 1840 when Mrs. Madeline Scott established the "Bushy Park" cattle run on the banks of the Dandenong Creek. The 2015–16 Sheffield Shield season was the 114th season of the Sheffield Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in Australia. The season began after the conclusion of the 2015–16 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup, Matador BBQs One-Day Cup, and included a break halfway through to allow for the 2015–16 Big Bash League season, Big Bash League. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. 2016–17 Big Bash League Season
The 2016–17 Big Bash League season or BBL, 06 was the sixth season of the KFC Big Bash League, the professional men's Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Australia. The tournament ran from 20 December 2016 to 28 January 2017. The format of the tournament was identical to previous seasons. Each team played eight group stage matches, four at home and four away, before the top four ranked teams progressed to the Semi Finals. The BBL title was won by the Perth Scorchers, who defeated the Sydney Sixers by nine wickets in the final to claim their third title. Chris Lynn of the Brisbane Heat was named player of the tournament for the second consecutive season, scoring 309 runs from just five matches. The leading run-scorer was Ben Dunk of the Adelaide Strikers, who scored 364 runs over the season. The leading wicket-taker was Sean Abbott of the Sixers, who took 20 wickets from ten matches. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs.
