Samuel Edwards (March 12, 1785 – November 21, 1850) was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district from 1819 to 1823 and from Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district from 1823 to 1827. Early life Samuel Edwards was born in Chester Township, Pennsylvania. He studied law, was admitted to the Delaware County bar in 1806 and commenced practice in Chester, Pennsylvania. Edwards was originally a Federalist and was chairman of the 1812 meeting in Chester, Pennsylvania that denounced Congress for declaring war on Great Britain. However once the war was on he supported the U.S. effort. In April 1813, he and Thomas D. Anderson applied to the state and provided their personal funds as bond for military provisions and ammunition to arm a company of Soldiers from Chester during the War of 1812. Sir Samuel Frederick Edwards (1 February 1928 – 7 May 2015) was a Welsh physicist. The Sam Edwards Medal and Prize is named in his honour. Early life and studies Edwards was born on 1 February 1928 in Swansea, Wales, the son of Richard and Mary Jane Edwards. He was educated at the Bishop Gore School, Swansea, and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, the University of Manchester, and at Harvard University, in the United States. He wrote his thesis under Julian Schwinger on the structure of the electron, and subsequently developed the functional integral form of field theory. Academic research Edwards's work in condensed matter physics started in 1958 with a paper which showed that statistical properties of disordered systems (glasses, gels etc.) could be described by the Feynman diagram and path integral methods invented in quantum field theory. Samuel Kingi Edwards was a Maori New Zealand former international representative rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s. He has two daughters: Naomi Cramer Family Lawyer in Auckland Marryna Edward and two sons Robert Edward and NZ born Morvin Edwards who later became a renowned rugby league player of his own right. His mother was Ani Kingi from Torere affiliated to Ngai Tai. His father was Patrick Edwards of Whakatohea, Opotiki. He had two full brothers: Patrick Edwards, Robert Edwards and two half brothers Jackie Edwards and John Edwards two half sisters Harriet Edwards and TeAorangi Haare.
