Sam Cree
Samuel Raymond Cree (1928–1980) was a Northern Irish playwright. During the 1960s and 1970s he wrote several long running and popular plays for comedians James Young and Jimmy Logan. His plays remain a favourite with Northern Ireland audiences and amateur theatre companies. Life Sam Cree was born in Lisburn on 19 February 1928, the son of Robert Campbell Cree and his wife Sarah (''née'' Hanna). Early in his life he worked in a drawing office in Lisburn. Whilst there he was asked to do 'something entertaining' for the company's Christmas party. Cree wrote a sketch called ''A Day in the Life of a managing director''. Cree would continue writing these sketches, much to the embarrassment of his co-workers. Driven by this success Cree submitted a sketch to comedian James Young for inclusion in his summer variety show. Lord Mayor Of Belfast
The Lord Mayor of Belfast is the leader and chairperson of Belfast City Council, elected annually from and by the City's 60 councillors. The Lord Mayor also serves as the representative of the city of Belfast, welcoming guests from across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The current Lord Mayor is Tina Black of Sinn Fein who has been in the position of Lord Mayor since 1 June 2022. The Deputy Lord Mayor is Michelle Kelly of the Alliance Party. History The position that is now the Lord Mayor originated in 1613 in the town's Royal Charter as the Sovereign of Belfast. In 1842, this position was restyled the Mayor of Belfast. ''Strictly for the Birds'' is a 1964 British comedy film directed by Vernon Sewell and starring Tony Tanner, Joan Sims and Graham Stark. Terry Blessing seems to be having a lucky day, winning at gambling, until a woman with whom he'd had an assignation six years previously 'phones him and claims her child is his son. It was made at Beaconsfield Studios as a second feature for distribution by the Rank Organisation. The film was an apparent attempt to imitate ''Sparrows Can't Sing'' (1963) with which is shared a setting in the East End of London.Chibnall & McFarlane p.132 Plot Terry Blessing creates a gambling system involving continual use of a ready reckoner. Although his system is very successful, he is ultimately robbed of his winnings by a well-bred young lady whom he accidentally meets after trying to impress her.
