Sam Bairstow
Samuel John Acer Bairstow (born 12 August 1998) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2023 Challenge Tour, 2023 Farmfoods Scottish Challenge on the Challenge Tour. Early life Bairstow was born in Sheffield, England, and started playing golf at the age of 12. He plays left-handed and came to represent Hallowes Golf Club, located in Dronfield between Sheffield and Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Chesterfield. Amateur career In 2021, Bairstow won the English Men's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship for the Brabazon Trophy. On June 28, 2022, at St Annes Old Links, Bairstow made it through the final qualifying for 2022 Open Championship, The 150th Open Championship at St Andrews Links, St Andrews, his second Open Championship. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. European Amateur Team Championship
The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Romain Wattel (born 10 January 1991) is a French professional golfer. In September 2010, Wattel became just the fifth amateur to win on the European Challenge Tour, when he captured the Allianz EurOpen Strasbourg. It was the second win by an amateur during the 2010 season following Andreas Hartø two weeks previously. Wattel turned professional in November 2010. He established himself on the European Tour, with best performances of second at the 2012 Omega European Masters and the 2015 Trophée Hassan II. Wattel finished 28th in the 2014 Race to Dubai. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of the richest golf tournaments on the European Tour. It is played in September, on three different links courses, centred on the "home of golf", St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. The tournament is a pro-am, with the format based on the long-running United States PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am held annually since 1937 (except during the Second World War), where each team consists of one amateur and one professional. World Amateur Golf Ranking
The World Amateur Golf Ranking for men was introduced by The R&A, the governing body of the sport of golf outside the United States and Mexico, on 23 January 2007. It is based on the results of over 2,600 amateur tournaments per year (and amateurs participating in certain professional events) and is updated each Wednesday. Rankings are based on the players' average performances in counting events over a rolling period. This period was 52 weeks initially but was gradually expanded during 2016 to 104 weeks, similar to those of the Official World Golf Ranking. Like the Official World Golf Ranking for male professional golfers, the amateur ranking was initiated by The R&A to provide a more reliable means of selecting an appropriate field for one of its tournaments.
