Salvation Triptych
The ''Salvation Triptych'' ( it, Trittico della Salvezza or ''Trittico della Salvazione'') is a triptych in oils on canvas by Moretto da Brescia, dating to 1521–1524 or 1527–28. All three of its panels are now in private collections, two in Brescia and one in Biella. The work centres on the theme of salvation brought about by the Passion of Jesus, Passion of Christ, with side panels of ''The Drunkenness of Noah'' (left) and ''The Brazen Serpent'' (right) and a centre panel of ''Moses Striking the Rock at Mara'', though no historian or art historian recorded seeing the three panels together. An archive note from 1912 mentions ''The Brazen Serpent'' in the Oldofredi collection in Brescia before being acquired by its current private owner in 1983. Trittico Della Salvezza
''Il trittico'' (''The Triptych'') is the title of a collection of three one-act operas, ''Il tabarro'', ''Suor Angelica'', and ''Gianni Schicchi'', by Giacomo Puccini. The work received its world premiere at the Metropolitan Opera on 14 December 1918. Background Around 1904, Puccini first began planning a set of one-act operas, largely because of the success of Pietro Mascagni's ''Cavalleria rusticana''. Originally, he planned to write each opera to reflect one of the parts of Dante's ''Divine Comedy''. However, he eventually based only ''Gianni Schicchi'' on Dante's epic poem. The link in the final work is that each opera deals with the concealment of a death. Puccini also intended that the three should be performed as a set, and wrote to Casa Ricordi to complain about their giving permission in 1920 to The Royal Opera, London, "for ''Tabarro'' and ''Schicchi'' without ''Angelica''". Triptych
A triptych ( ; from the Greek language, Greek adjective ''τρίπτυχον'' "''triptukhon''" ("three-fold"), from ''tri'', i.e., "three" and ''ptysso'', i.e., "to fold" or ''ptyx'', i.e., "fold") is a work of art (usually a panel painting) that is divided into three sections, or three Wood carving, carved panels that are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open. It is therefore a type of polyptych, the term for all multi-panel works. The middle panel is typically the largest and it is flanked by two smaller related works, although there are triptychs of equal-sized panels. The form can also be used for pendant jewelry. Moretto Da Brescia
Alessandro Bonvicino (also Buonvicino) (possibly 22 December 1554), more commonly known as Moretto, or in Italian Il Moretto da Brescia (the Moor of Brescia), was an Italian Renaissance painter from Brescia, where he also mostly worked. His dated works span the period from 1524 to 1554, but he was already described as a master in 1516. He was mainly a painter of altarpieces that tend towards sedateness, mostly for churches in and around Brescia, but also in Bergamo, Milan, Verona, and Asola; many remain in the churches they were painted for. Giovanni Battista Carboni (March 29, 1725 in Brescia – December 29, 1790 in Brescia) was an Italian sculptor, painter, and writer o''Le Pitture e Sculture di Brescia'' He was active during Baroque period, mainly in Brescia. Biography His father Rizzardo was a stucco and wood carver. His brother Domenico, also engaged in this type of decoration, as well as architecture died at age 41 in 1768.
