Salisbury is a southern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Salisbury had a population of 6,290 people. Geography Salisbury is by road south of the Brisbane GPO. Toohey Mountain and Toohey Mountain Reserve is located on the north east boundary of the suburb. Today, Salisbury is an established residential and industrial area, with substantial park lands in the north. History Salisbury was named after the residence of William Coote, an early Brisbane engineer, architect, journalist and political figure, who lived in the area. It is presumed to refer to Salisbury in England. The Beenleigh railway line opened in 1885 which included the Salisbury railway station to service the area. Rocklea started to develop before Salisbury, with the Logan Railway estate auctioned on 2 May 1885, advertising that the estate was near Salisbury railway station. Salisbury High School (South Australia)
Salisbury High School (founded in 1959) is a secondary public school located in Farley Grove, Salisbury North, South Australia, Australia. In 2005, it became an IB World School and it retained this status in an evaluation in 2010. In 2016, Salisbury High converted back to an Australian Curriculum school to focus on improving areas such as STEM and Arts. In addition, it runs three Senior School pathways: University Pathway, Vocational Education and Training Pathway, and a Community Studies Pathway which leads to further studies, work, or community service. Salisbury Composite High School, often referred to as Sal or Sal Comp, is a public high school located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. It is part of Elk Island Public Schools History Salisbury was founded in 1953, and had its first graduation in 1954, with 10 teachers and 27 students. In 1969, the school moved to its current location and opened a vocational department. In February 2019, there was a bomb threat at the school. Motto and logo Salisbury's motto is "Sail on with Pride and Tradition", represented by the latin phrase ''Sic Sursum'', which means "sail on" (literal Latin translation: "thus upwards"). Salisbury School is an all-boys, private college-preparatory boarding school founded in 1901 and located in Salisbury, Connecticut. Its school newspaper is ''The Cupola''. Its mascot is the Crimson Knight. The school's motto is ''Esse quam videri'', which translates as ''To be rather than to seem to be.'' Salisbury High School is a public, co-educational secondary school located in Salisbury, North Carolina. It is one of seven high schools in the Rowan–Salisbury School System. History Salisbury High School began in 1904 and was among the earliest public high schools in North Carolina. The current location was completed in 1926 and named Boyden High School in honor of Colonel Archibald Henderson Boyden, an educator who was then Mayor of Salisbury. It is one of many schools built across North Carolina in the early 20th century. The building was designed by C. Gadsen Sayre and built by L. S. Bradshaw, and (as Boyden High School) was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 23, 1996. Six additional buildings were constructed on campus to facilitate the school's expanding offerings and enrollment, many of them as part of the Works Progress Administration.
