Salisbury City Football Club was an English association football, football club based in Salisbury, Wiltshire. They were formed in 1947 and played at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium. Salisbury had gained back-to-back promotions in recent years, first to the Conference South in the 2005–06 season by finishing top of the Southern League Premier Division, followed by winning the play-off final in the 2006–07 Football Conference#Conference South, 2006–07 season to participate in the Conference Premier in 2007–08 Football Conference, 2007–08. The Raymond McEnhill Stadium
The Raymond McEnhill Stadium is a purpose-built 5,000 capacity football stadium in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. It is the home of Salisbury Football Club and Salisbury F.C. Women. History In 1997, Salisbury City moved to the stadium which was built at Old Sarum and was named after the then chairman, Raymond McEnhill. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Matthew Stephen Tubbs (born 15 July 1984) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bashley. Having started his football career, Tubbs joined Salisbury City and quickly made an impact throughout his time at the club, having "played a key role in Salisbury City's rise up the non-league pyramid in recent seasons". Thomas Widdrington (born 1 October 1971) is an English former football player and manager who is manager of club Aldershot Town. As a midfielder, he made 372 appearances in the English Football League in a 15-year career, before spending five years in Non-League football. His career began at Southampton in 1990, where he spent the first six years of his career most of which were in the Premier League. In 1996, he moved to Grimsby Town, helping the "Mariners" to the Football League Trophy and promotion out of the Second Division in 1998. The next year he moved on to Port Vale for a two-year spell. Voted the club's Player of the Year in 2000, he captained the "Valiants" to the League Trophy in 2001. 2008–09 Football Conference
The 2008–09 Football Conference season was the fifth season with the Conference consisting of three divisions, and the thirtieth season overall. The Conference covers the top two levels of Non-League football in England. The Conference Premier is the fifth highest level of the overall pyramid, whilst the Conference North and Conference South exist at the sixth level. The top team and the winner of the playoff of the National division were promoted to Football League Two, while the bottom four were relegated to the North or South divisions. The English football league system, also known as the football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in England, with five teams from Wales, one from Guernsey, one from Jersey and one from the Isle of Man also competing.
