Salesópolis
Salesópolis is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 17,252 (2020 est.) in an area of 424.997 km². Salesópolis sits at an elevation of . It is noted for being the source of the Tietê River. Salesópolis was founded in the 19th century as São José do Paraitinga, and later became the parish of Santana de Mogi das Cruzes in 1838. The parish was elevated to municipality status on March 24, 1857, but renamed Salesópolis in 1905 after a visit of the president of Brazil, Campos Sales (1841-1913). The Tietê River flows in the northern part of the municipality, and much of the southern part of the municipality is mountainous, heavily forested, and inaccessible. The Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of Salesópolis were largely destroyed in the late 19th and early 20th century, but 96 ha of the municipality are now protected as part of the Boracéia Biological Station, a unit of the Museum of ...

Tietê River
The Tietê River (Portuguese, Rio Tietê, ) is a Brazilian river in the state of São Paulo. The name Tietê was registered for the first time on a map published in 1748 by d’Anville. The name signifies "The truthful river", or "truthful waters” in Tupi. Source The rivers' headwaters are in the Serra do Mar, to the east of São Paulo city. Boracéia Biological Station
The Boracéia Biological Station ( pt, Estação Biológica de Boracéia) is field research center of the Museum of Zoology of the University of São Paulo in Salesópolis in the state of São Paulo. Its mission is to carry out biological research in zoology and botany on the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of the São Paulo region. The biological station covers within the municipality of Salesópolis and is located from the city of São Paulo. The Boracéia Biological Station was established on March 16, 1954 under Decree-Law 23 198 of 1954. The center traces its history to 1938 with the establishment of the Quina Experimental Station of the Agronomical Institute of Campinas. São Sebastião, São Paulo
São Sebastião (Portuguese for Saint Sebastian) is a Brazilian municipality, located on the southeast coast of Brazil, in the state of São Paulo. The population in 2020 was 90,328, its density was 185/km² and the area is 403 km². The Tropic of Capricorn lies 25 km north. The municipality existed since 1636 and formed a part of the old hereditary captaincy of Santo Amaro. Caraguatatuba, widely known by its abbreviation ''Caraguá'', is a city in the eastern part of the southern state of São Paulo in Brazil. Bertioga
Bertioga is a Brazilian municipality of the state of São Paulo in the Baixada Santista. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista. The population is 64,723 (2020 est.) in an area of 490.15 km2. Because it neighbors resort towns, its population fluctuates greatly with the seasons. The more northern parts are dense forests and are virtually unpopulated. The municipality was created on May 19, 1991. Prior to that it was a part of Santos.
