Albert Sale
Private Albert D. Sale (1850 – November 28, 1874) was an American soldier in the U.S. Army who served with the 8th U.S. Cavalry in the Arizona Territory during the Apache Wars. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry against a hostile band of Apache Indians, killing an Apache warrior in hand-to-hand combat and seizing his war pony at the Santa Maria River on June 29, 1869. Biography Albert P. Sale was born in Broome County, New York, in 1850. After his father died, Sale and his siblings were placed in Binghamton Children's Home by his mother, who also died soon after. At age 14, he ran away from the home and spent two years on the road before arriving in Dubuque, Iowa. It was there that he enlisted in the United States Army, signing papers indicating that he was of legal age, in August 1866. Mark David Sale (born 27 February 1972) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward. He made more than 200 appearances in the Football League and many more in non-league football. He was first-team coach of Birmingham City from October 2014 to December 2016. In March 2017 he was appointed first-team coach at Derby County. He was appointed first-team at Stoke City in June 2018. Playing career Sale was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, and began his career as a trainee with Stoke City. He made his league debut away to Brighton & Hove Albion in May 1990 and played the following week in the home game against Swindon Town. Thomas Sale (21 July 1918 – 3 January 2016) was an English rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played at club level for Leigh, Warrington and Widnes. Playing career Leigh Sale made his début in professional rugby league for home town club Leigh at the age of 20. He played nine games for the club before competitive rugby league was suspended due to the outbreak of the Second World War. He resumed playing for the club after the war, and went on to make a total of 82 appearances for the club before losing his place in the first team in 1948. Warrington Following the end of the Second World War, Sale briefly played for Warrington as a guest player, making seven appearances between 1945 and 1946. Thomas Sale (30 April 1910 – 10 November 1990) was an English footballer who played as a forward. Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Sale had two spells at his home town club, Stoke City, amassing 483 appearances, either side of a two-year stint at Blackburn Rovers. Later in his career, he had brief spells at Northwich Victoria and Hednesford Town, before opting to retire at the age of 39. Early life As a fourteen-year-old, Tommy Sale worked in a pottery factory. In conjunction with his work, he played football for Stoke St Peter's (a youth side that were linked with Stoke City). Edward Timothy Sale (born February 5, 1942) is a former Manitoba politician who served as a member of the Premier Gary Doer's cabinet. Biography The son of Edward Sale and Grace Watson, he was born in Goderich, Ontario, in 1942. He received Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Theology degrees from the University of Trinity College, and was subsequently ordained as an Anglican priest. Sale moved to Manitoba after his graduation and joined a team ministry at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Fort Garry from 1966 to 1969, and has been an honorary assistant in this parish since 1976. Later he worked with the United Church of Canada and then became executive director of the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg. Edward Little Sale (17 June 1871 – 2 September 1920) was an English cricketer. While working in the Indian Civil Service he played eight matches of first-class cricket in India for the Europeans between 1898 and 1903. Life and career Sale was born in Yorkshire and educated at Marlborough College, Bury St Edmunds School and Clare College, Cambridge. He worked as assistant collector and magistrate in Bombay from 1894 to 1902, and then as a forestry settlement officer. He married Constance Abell in Painswick, Gloucestershire, in 1908. Their nephew Sir George Abell was also a civil servant and first-class cricketer in India and England. Major-General Sir Robert Henry Sale (19 September 1782 – 21 December 1845) was a British Army officer who commanded the garrison of Jalalabad during the First Afghan War and was killed in action during the First Anglo-Sikh War. Biography He entered the 36th Regiment of Foot in 1795, and went to India in 1798, as a lieutenant of the 12th Foot. Edmund Vernon "Ned" Sale (6 July 1883 – 16 November 1918) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Auckland from 1905 to 1915, and played four times for New Zealand in the days before New Zealand played Test cricket. Cricket career A middle-order batsman and superb fieldsman, Ned Sale played one match for Auckland in 1904–05, and none in 1905–06. Playing for his club Parnell in January 1906, he made a record score for Auckland senior cricket of 284 in four hours out of a team total of 411.
